What do pre-flowers look like?

I have 5 plants vegging right now and a couple of more experienced growers have advised me to wait for pre-flowers to show before I start flowering. What do they look like? Does anyone have pictures?

I am an idiot(noob) and an explanation may not be good enough!

do the hair come out right away casue ive noticed on mine that there are little things that just showed up yesterday and it looks like little hairs coming out but its hard to tell

look for a pic on google that's similar.

they could be female preflowers, obviously i can't tell you for sure.

Sublimed could not of explained it better. Give them some time and they will show. Alot of time they show at 5th to 6th node.

This is the thing I just got into flowering on my first grow and I was like how the hell am I gonna figure out what sex the plant is. But the pictures on here can confuse you or should i say the noobies . Until you see it you wont know for sure how hard it is to figure it out. But I will try to explain.. I used to look at the new growth saying is this male or female. The preflowers comes out right at the nodes and sometimes it takes 48 hours to see if it has hair or if its balls. sometimes the hair comes out like right away (depending on how often you look at the plant)
Take even a simple magnifying glass to get a better look at the plant. and trust me when you see it for youself you will KNOW if its male or female.

Do you need magnification to see them or just naked eye?

yea man, people get to hooked up on getting rid of the males as soon as the first possible sight of balls, you have a while before they actually become a problem.

you have like 10 days before the male pollen sacks open i am on just about day 9 of my males and waitin to get that pollen....... just make sure that you know its def a male if they dont get hairs growing out of it in about 4 days you def know its a male

Don't know if anyone can tell or not. Pictures with magnifying glass are tricky........so I will post a few just taken a few minutes ago.

It does seem that it is pointed, not rounded..........but still, what do I know?

At this point give it a day or two more and you will know for sure...........

you'll need to get up reeeel close for us to be able to tell man.

check out speedhabits' widowcindy grow, check the macros on the most recent page. you will get answers with that kinda detail.

yeah its too early to tell..usually the male plant will start forming the balls way before the female starts showing pistols..like some others have said.."you will know"..and you will know before its time to pull them..that is if you want to pull them..my first grow was Lowryder 2's and I had to go on a business trip for a week, which I had 4 plants (btw they autoflower)..so when I got back two where males and had already grown balls and released some pollen..when the other two females had just started showing hairs..(needless to say I have a decent supply of LR2 seeds..I like to let a some pollen linger a lil when its a first grow with a new strain..geez I mean you pay so much for the beginning seeds..so why not hook yourself up for a good while..for instance I also have like over a 100 Early Misty seeds..its a nice feeling to know you want pay again for a strain)...so it seems to me that the males start clustering up like grapes way earlier than females start busting out with hairs..I hope you have a female..but you will know soon..good luck tho bro..how many plants do you have and how long you been flowering them?
