What do you think...50w LED UFO

Please only constructive feedback, i know people have a lot against LED.

So heres the deal. I have a box, roughly 20 inches high, roughly 8 x 7 inches wide. This will be enough room to grow 1 auto hindu as i have read they are small and barely passing 14" height even on good lighting.

Heat is an issue, so what do you guys think if i use a 50watt which i can just rest at the top of the box unlike cfls making heat and taking up room. to my understanding 1 watt led is a bit stronger than 1 watt cfl. i may also find a led pannel to put on the wall of the box at about 13w.

thats 63 LED watts for 1 plant. what do u guys think

I know nothing about LED, so no advice, but ill def sub and see how this goes.

That will be way more than enough. And heat won't be a problem with LED's

Hey man, I've been looking into LEDs for quite some time. The one with less watts and more diodes is probably not worth your time unless you can get multiples of it in there. The reason being, the 1w LEDs put out more light than the .25w ones even if you have 4 of them. This may not be the case for all lighting systems, but from what I've seen, 10mm and 5mm LEDs are useless. They just don't have the intensity to flower good. That's really what's going to get you results. It's not about the wattage using, but the intensity of the light coming from the source. Obviously a 1w LED is going to be more intense than a .25w one. If the picture on the left has a fan, you won't be able to mount it on the top without there be consequences. The fan will likely fail because there will be no air for it to pull. Makes the motor work harder and shortens life. So you need a little gap so there is air going into the fan. I would say an inch or two is likely fine, but with 20 inches total height you're looking at serious restrictions.

Another thing that I would like to add, with LEDs side lighting is the difference between good buds and bad buds. You will get a lot better results if you can mount LEDs on the side. The 13-14w panels should be perfect for this. I actually have 4 of them and I would definitely recommend getting 2, 1 for each side of the plant. They will help out a lot.

If you do go ahead with this PLEASE PLEASE post pictures and stuff of your progress. I'm going to be attempting a 1 plant grow just like yourself after my grow finishes. I will be using a custom made panel with high watt LEDs from luxeon. It will be about 60w total, and I'll have 4 of those 14 watt panels for side lighting. I won't be using an auto strain but if you are able to get a good harvest with 60 or so watts I will feel much much better about doing my grow.

I think LEDs are definitely the way to go in your short space. I really hope this works out for ya, best of luck man!!
