What Have I Done?

I had thrips I found last night. So I made a homemade solution of Dawn dish soap and olive oil and used it as a foliar spray. This morning, I woke up to see my plants like this.

funny, I don’t see any thrips anymore. But what the hell do I do for the plant to bounce back from this?

Ouch did this happen to all of your plants?

Both that are in veg.Grown this strain 3 times and always have an issue. And now I have no more seeds or clones. Never got to try this bud either. I need to figure out saving it. It even gonna bounce back?

Ah I see, To be honest I don’t know but cannabis plants are really resilient Maybe if you focused on new growth from now on they would get through it. I’m sure Spek9 or someone else will be able to better advise you though

I’m contemplating a foliar spray with distilled water. Quite clear my spray for the thrips was too toxic and I over did it. New growth looks rough. Hoping in a few days the new growth looks good. Can’t even take a clone as she is so beat up.

It might come back. I'd lift the plant, turn it on its side, and foliar drench the plant with pH'd water in a mist bottle to try to rinse off the layer of soap and oil from the plant. The reason to hold it sideways is so all of the soap runoff doesn't go into the medium.

I just sprayed the shit out of the plants sideways in the sink. My leaves are completely wilted now with water dripping off the leaves. I hope this fixes her.

I guess for the home made thrip spray I should use a crap ton less soap and oil if I get the issue again eh? On a side note. The thrips are gone lol.

Yeah, only a couple of drops is enough. That said, maybe you should buy a bottle of concentrated Neem oil in case of future events. Neem can be used as a preventative measure as well.

I know. I totally should have. Just corona has screwed with me. I thought neem oil was illegal in Canada?

in all my grows never had thrips. Powdery mildew once. Deficiencies a few times. Aphids once in 2008. But that was it. These bastards fucked with me. Never any pests in my grow room ever since I started growing again until yesterday.

It is, which is asinine IMHO. I ordered mine out of the US and received it just prior to the holidemic. Haven't even opened it yet, I just knew that I'd be moving between outdoors and indoors as I was starting to plan my outdoor gardens at the time. Although I don't bring outdoor plants in, I like to have Neem just in case pests attach to my clothes or something and I introduce them to my indoor grow areas.

Yeah neem oil was never registered as a pesticide in Canada. That’s the reasoning. Didn’t know if what I read was old news. Just terrible.

Do you have to dilute the neem oil? Or is it pre made solution to spray on the plant?

yeah I gave up outdoor this year. Huge issues lasts years. Huge plants. But fuck. No where to dry.

Mine I do, yes. I always prefer concentrates. I got an eight ounce bottle for the same price I could have bought a 750mL bottle of premixed, and the concentrated will make approximately 60 of the same sized bottles (~48L).

Welp. I hope they bounce back. If not. I hope I can at least take a clone or too and not lose the strain. Hoping for the best here. I drenched the shit out of them

Yup. My one plant looks burnt to shit. Leaves are dried up and brittle. My second plant doesn’t look as bad. It has bad areas but a few branches are good. I may just snip a clone from the good areas and save the pheno. Might be my only option. I don’t think the full plant will bounce back.

Would like to say. The plants have bounced back. Taking a long time. But there is some solid new growth coming from them. I didn’t lose the strain. Very happy.
