what is FIM

stands for " fuck i missed"

Just read the link and it's really just topping. I've seen people "FIM" and it seems more like the half way top it. Almost mutilate the growing tip. Like cut it in half. Check with other to confirm before you chop them up.
 
If you decide to fim, wait until plant gets 6" high then fim. Now you can leave it there and wait until she matures and flower her or fim again (all) 2 weeks after first fim.
I have gotten 23 tops this way and 7.5 oz from it.
