Hi fellas

i began from seeds and i put my seeds into rockwool cubes and they are in the humidity dome .temp is 25 C and humidity more than 99 %

i have 10 fem seeds . i'll use 2 X 36W CFl @ 6400K for first week until i remove them from humidity dome .

after they root ( after i remove them from the dome ,i will put them under 4 X 55w PL-L lamps. i have 600W dual spectrum hps for lately vegging and flowering .

my questions :

1 ) what is the optimum distance between baby plants and CFl lamps ? is 1 foot distance good for first 7 days ?

2 ) are 2 X 36 W CFl lamps enough for 10 seeds for first few days ? how long should i put them in the dome under CFLs ?

3) when they root ( about after first week) ,I'll put them under 4 X 55 W PL-L lamps and i'll put lamps 5-10 cm away from plants .is it good ?

4 ) i am germinating into rockwool cubes. i water everyday rockwool cubes,is it true ?

Thanks .

1"-2" away from plant or far enough so the plants don't burn. the closer the better with cfls

To keep the plants from stretching, put the lights 1-2 inches away from the tops. You will not have to worry about heat with cfl's or flouro tubes.Just keep them as close as you can get them.
Remove the starts from the dome as soon as they sprout and put them under your lights.
Keep the rockwool moist at all times,i put mine in a shallow pan with a 1/4 inch of water in the bottom.OPH

this is exactly why i love cfl's! ive put them about 1 - 2 cm away from my ladies and they do great things! i have a very samll closet operation so i stick with cfl's... i dont use mh or hps but ive seen cfl results from start to finish and i am amazed! i would get maybe 2 more 2700K Flouro's and one more 6500K flouro to even the lighting out! as far as germing... use a germ system, nirvana sells one or do what i do and stick with the old paper towel method.. works for me everytime!

thanks guys ,but 1" or 2 " distance isnt too close for 3-4 days old sprouts ? even with CFL ? i thought minimum 10" for baby sprouts for a few days ..

of course i know closer is better ,however 1" distance is good for plants older than at leats 1 week .. isnt it true ? ( i read that somewhere i couldnt remember now )

That is too far away and will cause stretching. As soon as my seeds pop i put them under my 105w cfl,the light is almost touching the leaves and no problems ever.
Do not know where you read it or heard it,just don't do it.LOL.OPH:bigjoint:

heat causes problems. bottom line, thats why some people swear by cfl's. they put out less lumens per watt but the little amount of heat means you can put them damn near touching the plant, i keep two 26w cfl's within 1-3 inches of all my vegging plants reguardless of age, all it does is make em bush out better
