what is the benefit of vegging indoors before transplanting outside?

i notice many outdoor growers (most, really) start their plants indoors and let them get about 1 foot to 2 feet tall before they transplant outside. what is the benefit to doing this?

Yea basically what he said. By letting them veg inside they develop strong roots and are less likely to die outside rather than just putting some seeds in the dirt and saying "see ya".

doesnt it stress them to say veg them under 18/24 inside...

Then transplant them outside in the spring ( to get a jump on the long season) where they only get like 14 hours of sunlight?

Not only strong roots, but when you put a 2-foot tall (or even a 1-footer) out in the wild before all the local plants have even had a chance to get started, your plants will be much less likely to get crowded out by all the vegetation in whatever area you're growing in. You're giving them a huge head start so they won't have to compete for sunlight. Kind of like redwoods!

nah braddah, veg em indoors til you ready to flower and put them outside, and they will start flowering immediately

in my oppinion this is the best way to do shit ;)

though when i mentioned it people were likke what the fuck got into a big arguement seems that it cant be done in some places though i dont see y in some cases....

nobody said nothing about quality and end result.

the quality generally tends to be awsome its kinda like combining the best of both worlds nice stoned of a bushie and longer lasting but looks like hydro and hits as hard generally yields pretty well as mentioned earlier.....

this produces my favourite weed and is my favourite technique.

nah man veg them till there as big as ya can make em then put em outdoors...

the problem you had was you put it out when you were getting your longest days more than likely.... a shade box woulda made it stay in flower ;)

but yeah
ya just cant put them out when theyre going to be getting days that come close to 16 hours ya know so any time but when there going to be getting a lot of light and the days are shorter :)

na not my problem i seen some fools do it though and they wonder why:dunce:
i always put them out small and into the ground after the start of the season and let them do their thing...
your right its all about timing and growing it as big as u can if its staying in a pot but you cant beat having it grow in the ground from a baby as those roots go wild and so does the plant....

yes it is possible that they will flower and hopefully finish by the time the days get longer and it doesnt revert back to veg. you may be ok with 13 hours. i thought you had longer days in FL. ?
just remeber to harden off your plants before you just stick them under that hot sun all day long.

People either start from seeds every season , have moms and take clones of them and veg the clones , then put them out side after a while will help them to

1 - Build a stronger root ball system
2 - Lets you help strengthen the stalks so that when it gets windy they down bend or brake as easly
3 - You can trim and prune to help give you plants a better growing way (to help expose any lower branches to light) to make your plants bushy or as tall as you want before you put them out side
4 - If you realy want alot of crops out side you could find a way to trick them into flowering even if the days are long and if done right you could use out side for the sun light and do the manual 12/12 ;)

yup thats prolly guaranteed to work any tim im an 18/6 man :) where im from days get close to the 16 hour of light mark sp the plsnt can have problems getting stuck in limbo.. this is still rareish tho and theres only a few months where we have to worry about it.... A SHADE BOX HELPS A PLANT THATS IS IN LIMBO STAY IN FLOWER (this is what you want to do if you mess up) i dont think you will tho lol specially running a 24 hour schedule

put it somewhere sunny yet shady for best results if the days are longer the shadyer the better....

i find the buds are better quality when done this method and seem more dank and crystaline :) perhaps due too being in such a good environment to start them really does pay off (meaning a hydro kit where all there needs should be catered for)

hope this helped
;)

i think your going to be happy with the results if you pull it off too by the way. may even become the grow method that you favour too.
