What is the best way to dry?

I just cut off one of the buds from my plant. I wanted to try drying one before I have to do the whole plant so I dont mess up all of my crop. I was wondering what the right way to dry it is. Right now I have it hanging upside down from a string. How long do I need to hang it? I have read about putting it in a mason jar and airing it out a few times a day. Was just curious about the best way to get it smokable. Thanks!!

well, so far so good. I'm pretty sure you leave it hanging until the stem snaps. then move it to the jar.

but really, I'm not sure I've been doing this whole process right. so I wouldn't go off what I said for this.
