What LED for a 5x5

Hello I’m wondering if there is any light out there perfect for a 5x5 flower tent. Was looking at the HLG Diablo and illuminar illogic 8 would those be considered the best around 6-700 watts? I’ve seen people build them but I have no idea how or if it’s comparable for price. The illuminar illogic 8 w/UV and Far red is on sale at a local hydro store closing for 650$ But is it better then the Diablo? Is there something better. I just want to buy something that will be awesome for the next 5 years or so.

Grab a 1000 watt light and run it at about 70% it will run a lot cooler than a 650 at 100% and the lifespan of the components will be a lot longer.

Pretty sure you can pick up the SF SE1000 cheaper than the hlg scorpion.

I'm running an HLG scorpion R Spec Far red with an HLG UVA bar and it's running very well. I can't even run the light turned up all the way.
How many UV bars would you use for a 5x5? Is growflux the thing they use to automate light intensity (so I can change it from my phone?).

ChilLED has always looked good. I know there's a few here with them. Kinda expensive but I would think they're gonna have a 4:20 sale. HLG is always good too though. Make sure you use a 20% off code if you go with HLG.

I stand by HLG because they have amazing customer service, I hope you get a great light!!
I ended up doing two of the 320w XL r spec kits and the third light is an XL heatsink with 1 bspec light and 2 older 4k v1 board. I put the stretchy plants under the blue side and the shorter plants on the red side. If the plants are uniform I hang the blue light in the middle. It doesn't hurt to have too much wattage as your boards are more efficient and will last longer if not driven to hard.

With that being said it is a pain to dim them as they are the A type drivers so I use a screwdriver to dim them and it can be a PITA, so getting a big unit like the scorpion is nice but you are committed to using the entire light at whatever height it's at. With multiple fixtures I can even take one out if needed for a seperate chamber so it gives me alot more flexibility

I'd opt for far reds on their own channel and not built into the boards so you can control them with their own timer

It's debatable whether UV does anything useful at all. There's no scientific evidence that the UV has a positive impact. Lots of anecdotal theories but no science.

If you are going to run UV then it's best to create a baseline first without UV and then introduce it and see what difference it makes

Uva helps keep the room sterile and prevents PM so that in itself is worth it to me running the extra 30w or whatever

My 260s dim the same way. I found using a wattage meter on both lights works great for getting even light coverage.

For a 5 x 5, Id hands down get the new Mammoth 880w 8 bar with the newest Samsung EVO 301b diodes. Also had the Samsung 301H diodes. They go down to 435nm, and the far red go to 730nm. This light is designed to have the combined Kelvin of a Metal Halide, and HPS combination. If Im not mistaken, It has a 4826k temperature.
3752 Diodes.

Also available is a 50w and 100w UV Bank of 310-385nm Diodes. You need 2 for a 5 x 5 area. $350 for the 100W-$200 for the 50W.

Im going to order 2 of the 880w Mammoths, and 2 each of the 100w UVA/B A buddy and I have ben partners since the early 80s, and Im going to buy them for him. I also supply him with genitcs, and pay half on the electric.
Currently we run a combination of 2 1150 DE Gavitas. 2 x 1000w Hortilux HPS, Gavita 1700e, and a 1000w Hortilux Blue. We use the Gavita 1700e and the Hortilux Blue for Mothers.

If theres a better LED, especially for the money than the Mammoth, Id like to know what it is, especially with the new 310b EVO diodes.

Anyone know what other LED company uses the EVO Diodes? The Mammoth has a 3.1 efficiency. 3752 Diodes. Ive seen 2 umol ratings. 2613umol, and 2713umol.
Whichever, thats alot of umol for 880w. Could really probably cover a 6 x 6 area with this light considering the umol.

Hard to beat for $1000.

I'm running the HLG Scorpion Diablo X with the UVA light bar. All my plants love that light although I recently moved it to 80% for weeks 5-6 and it bleached a few leaves LOL It's really powerful, so I run mine at 60%

My tomatoes and peppers are flowering under it and my cannabis just finished week 8. I'm waiting for their seeds to ripen.1681118678697.png

Here she is in disco mode (UVA bar only)

Can’t go wrong with HLG .. in my veg tent I use HLG 300 L Bspec and can’t even use it at full power in my 4x4 . The 650r in my flower tent that’s 600 watts I can only use 1/2 the power and kicking 860 PAR . And customer service is outstanding. And they use Samsung 301H LEDs …..and I also have the UVA bar hook up to my 650R…

Looks nice but I think id still go with the 320 HLG kits. Be nice to have flexibility for hanging height. Also nice if you want to run a smaller grow. Also if one light has a issue you still have 2 running till the problem is sorted out, you couldn't do that with the Mammoth.
