Hi all

I have a few 90l rectangular tubs that i want to turn into veg aero tubs, just to get some roots before going to the tables.
The tubs have an area of 81cm by 51cm and they have no lid. What material could i use that i could drill loads of 2'' holes that could handle the weight and block the light? I know plastic would be nice but i dont know anyone selling hard sheets of it here in catalunya.I can get hard greenhouse sheets but those let light through, or could i paint this black then drill the holes?

Thanks

I grow flood & drain in 4ft x 8ft tables covered with panda plastic, white reflective side up obviously , i lay the plastic sheet over the whole table & cut it leaving a few inches hanging over all 4 sides .

Next i attach the plastic to one side of the table using little spring clips that look like clothes pins & are sold at hardware stores for less than $1 each , i stretch the plastic tight & clamp the oposite side making sure to pull out any wrinkles, then i attach the last 2 sides with the clips .

Next i flip a 5inch net pot upside down & trace the smaller end of the pot with a felt marker, this leaves a 3 inch circle , after making 50 outlines i cut out the circles with sissors , the 3 inch hole allows a 5 inch net pot to fit snug as hell , then after cutting all 50 holes i put the net pots in .

After putting the net pots with clones in them in the holes the inside of the table keeps a constant 100% humidity with zero light infiltration, the only grow medium used is inside the 5 inch net pots , the table is empty & after 8 weeks the entire table is 1 massive mat of roots where not an inch of the bottom of the table can be seen.

With this method i flood once every hour for 15 minutes durring lights on & once every 2 hours lights off .

Hope this helps you out .

Maybe use black correx ..... it's corrugated plastic, they use it for making signs etc ... comes in various thicknesses... ebay it.

They must sell corex in spain. Its used in everything from craft shops to real estate signs. I spelled it wrong before, it's 'corex' NOT 'correx'.

Actually here's an ad for it on ebay espana - http://www.ebay.es/itm/5-sheets-A1-fluted-plastic-corex-board-for-out-door-signage-and-display-/140954722109?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item20d18e5f3d

You won't want to use that particular ad, the postage will be too much and you might want a thicker plastic but it's an example. Just look about a bit. peace

Alternatively, you could try using Marine plywood. Just use the tub to mark an outline of the shape on the wood and cut around it with a jigsaw. Then cut the 2" holes with a 2" holesaw drill bit.
