Looking 2 buy my first bike. I have convinced myself my 6'4, 240 pound self can learn on a xsr 900 since it has the 6 axis imu and i can dial back into mode 4. Opinions...?
I've rode for years and gave up when insurance got too expensive and other drivers on the road got less capable in the area that I ride in.Looking 2 buy my first bike. I've been biking for over 25 years & I'm a big guy too....so here's my 2 cents.Looking 2 buy my first bike. I have convinced myself my 6'4, 240 pound self can learn on a xsr 900 since it has the 6 axis imu and i can dial back into mode 4. Opinions...?
I just looked up this bike. Nice, have you sat on it ? Get your feet up on the pegs and sit while it's held upon a stand or friend.learn on a xsr 900
Man!... I'd really like to have one of the new Honda ADV150's......nice looking scoot!.. 70mph and 70 mpg!I found scooters to be WAY more fun. An old 80s Honda Elite 150 or 250. But, a crazy stripped down version we called "the skelly"

This was my 1985 Elite 150. I could do about 70 on it.

This was my 1985 Elite 150 with the flip headlamp. This one never topped 60mph
My old Yamaha TW200, it was kind of a dog on the streets but it RIPPED trails and off-road.

Nah my buddy and i fabbed a shortram intake and battery box, never got around to header and disc brake swapI loved my TW! I had the same slip on exhaust. Did you go with the airbox mod and use the TTR225 headers?
I wouldn't get an 1100 for a first bike, you are asking for trouble. What sort of riding do you plan to do?Just took a safety course this past weekend to bypass the state test and see if I would even like riding, so I'm in a similar boat. I'm 6'4 185, they had us on some harley 500 cruiser, and it was a bit cramped imo. Really difficult keeping my knees in.
I'm looking at Honda 750 aero or rebel 1100. Going to sit on some Hondas at the dealership tomorrow, but I'm not buying a bike until next spring.
Harleys are decent bikes, but that stripe and badge emblem ain't worth an extra 3-5 grand imo
6k in 10 months?? Damn, I don't even drive my regular car that much. Must be a blast!I got myself a 230cc dual sport at the end of last year, and have been riding it as much as possible. Just about to hit 6k miles in 10-months of ownership. It's super fun to blast up in the hills on dirt trails, and just as fun to zip around town. Gotta love the gas mileage. It's my first bike in 20-years. My last bike before this was a Honda CB750 that I rode up and down the west coast for a couple of years. Prior to that, back in high school I has a classic 125cc vespa that I bored up to 150cc.
