What size airpump for 35 gal

** Although I've had numerous successful harvests, I am new to growing hydroponically. I was going to purchase 5 3.5 dwc bubble boys from htg supply for 30$ *this Friday. But after researching it seems that I can make one better and bigger for a whole lot less.I would like to use good equipment for maximum results. I plan on using a 35 gallon rubber maid tote. What size air stone and pump would I need. Also how many plants would be recommended for the container? I was thinking 4 to 6 max. Any suggestions, recommendations, or anything else I need would b greatly appreciated, thanks guys!:leaf:

tote work great BUT you have to find a good way to keep water cool. I grow in Coolers, like for drinks at the beach. it works great, light tight an keeps the water cool. I run at 60 an every 12 hours drop a frozen gallon bottle. Something to think about. colder water holds more o2.

cold water holds more oxygen. they love it if you slowly lower the temps I run 60-65ish . I have a friend who runs his res at 58F.

Too low reduces plant metabolism and nutrient/water uptake. Lowering temps later into flower helps with going purple quite a bit though. 68-70 is about ideal with a good system that has maximum DO to keep root metabolism rates up. The chemical processes happen faster at higher temps, though it is a balancing act with keeping DO high enough for roots and anaerobic bacteria defence.
