what to do when a plant is dug up by stray animal

One plant about 1 month old was dug up last night. All roots are still there. Plant looks dropy at top. What should I do to save it. This is skunk seed. At the moment I have it in my house in a cup of water out of light.

I would have replanted it, watered it, and prayed for the best (and of course add a protective barrier to prevent a repeat uprooting)... I've often been surprised at how resilient these plants can be.

Otherwise, I don't think there is a whole lot that can be done beyond the basics like that (maybe someone will come along and prove me wrong though). The only other thing I could think of is to use wilt-guard on it to possibly give it more time to get its roots in order again.

So I should take it out of the water cup and replant it? I dont have to worry about my other plants it was a opasome and my 30-06 has taken care of that. Now I'm going to put up a fence and learn from this lesson. Thank's. If any one else has any ideas please let me know. Again thank's.

It should be OK.. they are very strong plants when it comes to abuse of the physical sort..... Luck..

Skunk strains are pretty resilient, it may take awhile for the plant to get back to normal from the shock but I wouldn't be surprised if it was fine.

man,i went thru the same thing just this morning. i had a plant that was going to be huge. it was already over 2 ft, and that was in a gallon pot, so i decided to put it in the ground. i dug a big ol hole (3x3) filled it w/ a bag of premium garden soil, and put her in. i go back this morning to water and she's been chewed down to like 3 in. tall!!! nothing but a stalk and one little shoot left.:cry::spew:so i watered her anyway, and hope some of her grows back and makes something, anything! man, it was the perfect location, great soil, lot's of light, just didn't know about the f'n critters! but...now i know. live and learn i guess. i'll be sure to take precautions from now on.:peace:

I would just replant it, making sure not to stress the roots too much (bright light, beating them around, cramming them in the hole). Put it back in the soil, tamp it down slightly, water... maybe a foliar feed to help the plant get a quick drink, hope for the best.

I wouldnt let it dry out too much until the roots recover.
