What to do with a vegging plant in soil.

Hey guys, I have a question.
Last night one of my seeds popped open and I put it in a pot with soil obviously lol.

I put the seed down in the dirt and covered it lightly and gave it a good mist. My question is, should I just keep the cup in the dark until the seed emerges from the dirt or should I put it under a light so some heat gets added to the soil and help the seedling hatch?

Your seed should be fine just the way it is. If you need some extra heat you can use the light, many people do.

The only thing I've noticed about the site in the long time I've been here is much much more responses filled with sarcasm and just total un friendliness. In 2009 it wasn't like this this bad. People actually wanted to stick around. It's up to the veterans to determine whether or not this place is a place where new growers want to come and feel safe about asking questions. Insolence is such an ugly thing.

yup, and yet I repeatedly see one poster posting 5 or 6 threads a day about really stupid things..." where can I find a teaspoon" . no matter, you tell him how to find a teaspoon...

At this early stage it's more about your environment than your lights, keep your humidity in the seedling area in the 60% range and try to gradually reduce it to around 40% as she grows, try to keep temps in range, as far as lighting, the plant can't use it till it has leaves so on or off makes little difference yet, I keep seedlings in a smaller area with a couple cfls till they are at least a week above ground then move them into the veg room with the lights waaaay high up
