What should i do with them as they are in a totally differant room then my babies. I wanna try cross breeding but have no idea on what to do and also when do the pollen sacks open up so i can collect some pollin!! Thanks :bigjoint:

ok now that you know their male,

the pollen sacs will be open in less than 2 weeks.

you DO NOT want the whole plant to go off, it will put out an amount of pollen that will contaminate your whole damn house

so heres what u do with a male.

1. practice prunning, and study the effects it has on growth.
2. practice cloning, practice the hell out of it and get you shit down.
3. collect pollen for hybridization.

pollen has a storage life that is unpredictable, it can die in days or store for months depending on conditions.

so heres some options for you

cut off ALL branches except ONE. (this reduces space, and helps you keep pollen spread controllable)
keep it in flower when you start seeing them open and drop powder, IMMEDIATLY cover compleatly with a plastic bag, cut the branch loose and hang upside down somewhere, in about 5 days there will be a bunch of powder in the bag, collect and store in a cool dry place (storage life of up to 2 months+ under ideal conditions.

a better option is to clone 1 branch and thrown the rest away, if you keep it rootbound it will never really grow, and you can just send it to flower when you need pollen

WOW thanks dude thats crazy amount of info that i didnt know, so if the room is about 50 ffet away and is contained and the males are in a portable closet with the doors closed ....it still can contaminate my babies. I have the males under 110watts of cfls that are meant for growing. Will the pollen sacks still pop open with such little light energy?? Thanks again my man!!

He means ...cut off ALL branches except ONE. That's pruning ... it means to cut back without killing.

When ur done collecting pollen, make hash out of the rest of the plant.

thanks for the info ppl

say you forget one night that you have a male plant that your using to practice cloning and what not in your flowering room or close by your flowering room the pollen travels like crazy.

i dont think they have a plant abortion clinic yet..

i cut the best branches and let them sit in a cup of water by a window and collect the pollen as it falls i also make sure there is no air circulation around the branches or il cover it with a clear plastic bag.

just some ideas but they might be crazy.. ive been eating ginger snaps:leaf:

well its not that it will drift.

you will carry the pollen.

on your hands, in your hair, on your shoes.

its microscopic with a static charge.

its almost impossible to contain.

and if your wondering how hardy a male plant is.

i was disposing of one when someone came over, so i shoved it way in the back of a cabinate behind some shit.
and forgot about it, for 3 weeks. when i found it it was bone dry with freash green growth on top, dead brown on bottom, and a surrounding ring of pollen.
once a male flowers there is no way on earth to stop it from droping pollen, even sending it back to veg wont stop the emerging pollen sacs from splitting.

and by pruning i mean such thing as cuting of one of each node set to see how it effects the opposing branch
or doing what i do pruning all but the middle 3 leaves from fan leaves, bansia type stuff.
