What will make companies stand out in 2015?

What do you think will be the thing that makes a seed company stand out?

There are a lot of companies sharing cuts and there are tons of great strains already on the market. What will it take for them to get your dollar?

I know I just ordered enough seeds for the next 3 years lol so unless it is something crazy awesome I won't even get the slightest tickle to go for it.

To start, I think more strains need to strive for a more balanced ratio between all the cannabinoids, particularly CBD...If they could figure out in more detail how the actual "high" works in the brain relative to the duration of the high, perhaps they could extend the high, and thus less need to medicate...

Other than those, perhaps we can begin to figure out how much EXACT genetics are expressed in hybrids, and polyhybrids allowing for a more detailed expectation of results..Instead of simple 60/40 hybrid, maybe see it in a closer genetic match, especially with more and more polyhybrid breeding.

To stand out to the general public they just need to make new crosses out of the most popular clone onlys. Some sharp lookin advertising with promos at the big banks.

Now for the hardcore seed heads to be interested in a seed company id say more documented testing, more direction in there crosses then just crossing clone onlys, and being more available and easy to talk to with there attitude towards buyers.

I was gonna say honest, friendly, professional customer service is huge to me.

Quality genetics, good customer service and competitive pricing.

The same things that make companies succeed in any year. :D
Not true, many seed companies lack customer service and are highly successful. Though I do believe that they should have decent customer service to stay competitive that is not the case. Win a couple cups and the masses will buy your strain even if it is a clone only that you seeded after u won the cup LOL.

This reminds me of Barneys and GHS lol

Yeah. Heard nothing but great things too. (wait, why don't I have any of their stuff? lol).... Whips out cc....
PeakseedsBC is great. MikeJ is a true gentleman. PeakseedsBC is mostly all I grew through all of 2014, my rookie year.

My post above was exactly what I was talking about - PeakseedsBC. Quality genetics, top notch customer service and extremely competitive pricing. Not to mention being able to pay by EMT is very convenient for us Canadians. :D

In reality I'm a newbie grower I can't attest to the comparison of genetics as I haven't grown much else but I will say this. In my nearly 20 years of toking I have ever so rarely had anything better than what I grew over this past year. No clue if that's my growing or the genetics but seeing that I'm a rookie I would like to think the genetics played a good role in that.

In general those are simple rules to running a successful business. Legitimate or not. ;)

Those are just the things I look for in general making any kind of significant purchase. Of course as customers we won't even be able to make contact with a huge majority of the breeders or be dealing with them directly so they don't even apply.

I have been smoking no name and growing budget beans thus far and still get high as fuck. Cups won has never influenced a purchase I have ever made or will ever make. :

It may not influence you or I but the sales are proving that cup wins lead to easy seed sells at outrageous prices.

I agree customer service is a number 1 priority in business but all it takes is a lap around the seedbank reviews to see that almost every company lacks in that department. No company gets a AAA rating from me so far, even though I highly praise these companies it is not for their customer service but for the fact that I received what I bought. Kinda sad that we live in this age where its still illegal to buy and sell cannabis beans but I think if a company were to come out with top notch service and some grow journals to back up their work they could be highly successful.

I don't know. I'd put Ace in the category of AAA customer service. They answered my emails promptly, and even gave me more beans then I had originally ordered. Their shipping was also quicker than any bank has provided as they sent the beans in a padded letter envelope, avoiding customs (well the parcel aspect of customs).

That's pretty good customer service in my book. I don't think they could have handled it any better in my opinion.

I've seen other breeders, bodhi comes to mind over at the bay, that replaced customers beans even when he didn't have to (the original poster was being a whiny bitch, bodhi could have told him to fuck off as far as most were concerned but he took care of him). Again, good customer service in my book. Ideally I don't want to use customer service ever but in the event I do, I only hope the outcome is as good as its been.

Eta: cups don't mean shit to me anymore either. It's all a dog and pony show

Well customer service is from having honest advertising, to answering emails, giving the product you were expected to give.

I think customer service plays a role in every step in the business process even in management. I also have never tried dealing with Ace yet and so I will gladly say I have found one place that gives AAA service. My main point was in general the industry is lacking in honesty, integrity, and follow through.

I have a hard time expressing myself through writing, it is why I am like 14 years out of high school but just taking a critical research class. Over time I will get better at this just like everything else I work on. But it is hard to convey my message properly and posts like yours help to define it for me. Everyone so far has had some great points on what it will take. I wonder if any seed company is going to come through this thread and actually take the advice of the consumer.

Lol, I'm following you just fine my friend! Writing is something that gets better with practice. I find myself lacking at times still when I'm trying to convey an idea or thought process to another. Part of that is we all have a different relationship with language.

I hope your class is going well, and if you are researching anything fun feel free to PM me or share.

Researching is something I love to do. Almost done with school myself, and research particularly tied to public policy is a major interest of mine.

But I agree, the illegality of the industry certainly leaves much to be desired in terms of customer feedback. If you have the balls to sell beans, you should have the balls to follow up with your customers. Too often it seems to be a cover ones ass type of thing.
