What would be my basic needs to start and finish?

Hi i haven't started growing yet, im just doing research and finding out everything i need to know and have before i start this glorious journey.

I know im gonna need a light (whats affordable but gets the job done, how many watts should i get?), soil(foxfarm?), pH meter, nutrients (what are the basic nutes??), thermometer (i found i nice one at radio shack for 20$ show humitidy to)


I kinda learned all the stages the plant goes through, but i guess u learn as u test it out.

welcome to RIU, ok for ur 1st grow get a 400watt HPS..if u have the money go for

the 600watt, if u can get a nice aircooled hood, that will help u with heat...you

NEED PH meter, PPM meter..if i were you i whould look in to COCO B-CUSS brand

insted of soil (its easyer to work with)...as for nutes go with something simple like

GH 3 part or there dry nutes (they work well) also get some cal/mag, PH up and PH

down..IMO this should work for a 1st grow, also make sure u do lots of reading, go

^^yeah i agree^^ for the fact if ur not into "this thing of ours" you'll just be wasting money, because it does cost ALOT in investments, if u really want to do this do it right, start small save ur cash and put it back in to ur garden untel ur happy with ur outcome.

You can be very succesful on your first grow with very little money

Light:Get a 400watt HPS [High Pressure Sodium] lamp you can find one on ebay for $140.00 bucks shipped and it comes complete with a ballast, plug-n-play. This will be your best and most important investment but well worth it.

Second soil: The soil I use is Fox Farm's Ocean Forest works very well I believe it has Worm Castings and Bat Guano mixed in and other good stuff aswell this soil cost around 12 bucks a bag.

Ferts: For your first grow I reccomend using one part nutes this way it will be easier for you to use. Second grow you will be more comfortable using multi part nutes. cost about 20 bucks depends which one you get.

Also buy a PH Testing Kit that comes with PH Up and PH DOWN you will be able to control your PH levels this way by checking your run off water.

These are the main thingsto buy and not very expensive besides the lamp.

Good Luck with your grow but you won't need it.
Just research and you will be good and get a succesful harvest.

they work i've seen people on here grow nice buds with cfl's but I personally wouldn't go with them only in vegg do I use them and for clones. Go with 400w HPS not tooooo expensive and worth the investment.
