What would you do?

I am the caregiver for my wife. We are allowed 12 plants and her needs are pretty modest at less than 4 ounces a year.

The catch is I have some equipment that is 20 years old. The newspaper used for packing was dated Sept. 1990. Anyway what I have.
3foot x 3foot Ebb and Flow table.
350 gal per hour pump.
400 watt HPS
150 watt HPS
C02 tank and regulator
Rainforest 6 plant single bucket system

I will need a new PH meter as the old one is not operational any more.

I figure i might as well start with 12/12 to get flowering started right away. Large yields not being too important. I always used the 150w my light for veg and the 400w was in the flowering room. However if I only do 6 plants at a time I figure the 150 might be enough for flowering too. Please speak up if you see any holes in my logic so far.

Considering my needs would anyone suggest using the e&f table with rockwool? I remember that keeping the PH in line was a PITA with rockwool but maybe that has changed? Would anyone suggest using the rainforest system? Or should I consider a different system all together?

All feedback is welcome.

ebb and flow is fine. if your worried about the rockwool just use a net pot filled with hydroton. if your going to start with 12/12 grow all 12 plants. use the 400 w hps

Yeah if you go with 12/12 you might as well grow all 12 plants sea of green style. You can use the 150w HPS to veg more plants for the next cycle.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like everyone agrees the e&f system is the best way to go. One more thing. My well water is very hard. I was thinking the general hydro nutrients. Any other recommendations?

you could also grow a mother using the 150w and keep your newly rooted clones in with her for some veg time then pop them into your ebb and flow flowering room under the 400w.

just what i would do if i had both lights.
