Same as it always was except the price has doubled the last few yrs.7-8 years ago it was all the rage. Lately it seems to have fallen out of favor. I used it on one grow and did ok, but it had it's drawbacks. Now it seems many have gone back to soil.
50 bucks here for a bale works greatSame as it always was except the price has doubled the last few yrs.
I was eye balling that premier peak. I take it it's just basic peat. Nothing added, plain. Would be easy to build a nice medium with that adding just a few items of your choice. Dunno if it would cost more doing it that way but custom shit always cost more..lol. Always fin to make your own mix.I'm still using it a a base for my organic mix, which has been re-amended & recycled 3 times now. This time I bought the Premier straight peat moss and will aerate it with pumice as a base. I'd like to get away from perlite.
So no dish soap for you..lol. Good to know if I go with the premier next time I need medium. Is it the organics in the mix your using requiring the agent? I know dish soap or seaweed agar is used a lot but I don't remember ever using a wetting agent. Just curious.Def needs a wetting agent; I'm using the BAS Quillaja or whatever he calls it. Seems to work very well. Trying to stay as organic as I can.![]()

Thank you. It's only a few miles from my home. Truthfully, I wasn't looking to buy Promix, but I was wondering why it seemed to fall out of favor in place of soil.@Beard-o I have been going to Progressive Grower in Wareham the last few years, they are a commercial agricultural supplier. They are very friendly and will sell retail as well. Just call in the order and they will build the pallet for you, then just drive in, pay cash and haul. Great prices without the Ganga tax of local grow shops.
They haven't carried Promix in years, but the Berger or Sunshine Mix works just a good.
