What's the difference between these 6" inline fans?

The amount of air moved, construction of fan and noise are probably some differences. I have the green one and pushes some air. You almost cant hold it when its on, it moves in a circular pattern the same direction the fan moves. You will be fine moveing only 10 feet. IMHO.

CAN FAN 12" =1700 compared to the vortex 12"=1100
Get a fan speed controller. The big ducting moves much more air even at the same RPM of the 6.
There will be alot less noise when the fan is run on low

Whoa! Thanks for the reply, but thats like a $400 fan! No way I have that kinda money. That alone would be 3X the most expensive thing I'd have bought for my grow. Believe me, if I had that money this thread would not have been posted. The purpose for comparing these fans is if the cheaper ones do just as well (or nearly) as the vortex, then I'll just get the cheaper one.

Now, if the vortex is a lot quieter, then it is worth the money.

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean "you almost can't hold it when it's on"? Does that mean it vibrates like crazy? Is it a loud fan?

I just found this thread that talks about the Value Line 6" centrifugal fan. People are saying some real good things about it, alot of them using it for exactly the same purpose, with exactly the same bulb. One person said it does just as well as vortexs they own.

Can fan plus the filter is good. here in vancouver vietmiense people have grow store and hook up deals. i paid 240 for my 12" can fan.
Get the new 6 inch can fan. I think there are 140 bucks or something. Go buy a used 8 inch for a hundred bucks. a good Carbon filter will cost you about 200-300 hundered for a 100cm and for 750-1200cfm

Alright I found my answer. I should have just googled a bit before starting this. I just came across this thread where some folks are talking up these 6" Tjerndlund Fans (530 cfm). I'm going with this one for sure.

Get an 8 Inch just incase heat might be a problem? Easyer to pull air threw a charcoal filter. Get the motor for an extra 20$
8 inch in good for a 10x10x8 room(1.2 minutes to clear the room). 6 is good enough for 8x8x8

I don't need a filter for my cooltube. Last I checked, lights didn't emit odors. Plus I'm a looooong way from Vancouver (~3000 miles). The only hydro store in my area sells those for a stupid price. Anyhoo, I just bought the 6" Tjerndlund fan off e-bay for $100 after shipping and tax.

haha. I could just see myself crossing the border, explaining to border patrol that I drove 3000 miles to save 50 bucks. They'd dick slap me for being dumb. And yes, they can do that. This is America - home of the free.
