whats the differnce between, vegging and flowering

As the Title says bascailly!

Don't really understand what these words meaning as I am new to Growing and was wondering what they ment.

I have 3 Palnts underway in my Wardrobe and 4 CFL Lights on them and was just going to do the 12/12 routine, but then I have read some were saying, close to Cropping, swop over to Veg or Flowering.
Haven't a clue what this means lol

must people veg 4-6 weeks, on 18-6 light cycle(on 18 hours, off 6 hours) then when you change lights to 12-12 that is the flowering stage.

Veg is the life stage that plants are in before they flower. When plants are growing lots of leafy shoots rapidly but not producing any flowers. This stage of growth is maintained by giving plants 24 straight hours of light, OR 18 hours of light and 6 hours of dark.

Cannabis plants are light responsive. To induce flowering you give them 12 hours of light, and 12 hours of dark. This simulates the oncoming winter months and tells the plant the end of its life cycle is nearing. Forcing it to flower. Which is what you were just puffin on...some pretty flowers.

So if I just do 12/12 from Seed, what will happen?

Doherty!:leaf:

That's not a good idea, because they will start to flower from the beginning, and will end up very small with little yield. Keep them on 18/6 lighting for at least 2 weeks, or until you decide to force them to flower(with 12/12 lighting). Keep in mind that whatever size the are when they are switched to 12/12, they will typically double their size during flowering(bloom), and sometimes triple depending on the strain type(sativas sometimes triple).

When starting from seed, it's a good idea to veg a little longer than 2 weeks, because they aren't mature yet(like a clone would be), and 3+ weeks is a good rule of thumb because they normally take about 4 weeks to become adults, and ready to put into flowering.

Look around on the forum man, there are people who do it...but Jawbrodt is right. I don't do it (most dont), and dont personally like the idea of it.
