What’s your preferred method of watering coco?

So I’ve been in coco since I can remember and I’ve always watered when the pots get around 50% lighter than what a fully watered one weighs.

I’ve always done it this way with the weight method, over time you get a feel for when they want more. Like right now mine are in 4L around 3 weeks from seed and I’m watering every other day with around 20-30% run off.

Ive always wondered, if I watered more frequently (every day) but with less water and less run off would I see more explosive growth? Just unsure as I don’t want excess salt build up in the coco, this is why I’ve never done it this way.

What do you guys prefer?

I literally watch the plants pray the second the water hits the pots.
Hallelujah!
Love this! So regarding the drip cycle, how do you overcome the salt build ups as obviously you will never be feeding with any run off?

I’m really tempted to water more frequently but with less run off if none at all.

They're on sprinklers. They runoff every irrigation into a passive (gravity fed) drain that runs into my sewer line. Runoff is super important.

Yep I agree, I’ve only ever done it by hand with minimum 20% run off, I really want to water more frequently to see if I get faster growth but if the pots ain’t 50% lighter then I don’t bother.

Sounds like a nice setup. If everyone is dumping all those nutes down the drain, it sounds like a recipe for disaster with the drinking and ground water. Not trying to sound like a hippie though,
Ya, I know. Runoff isnt alot but it does add up over time. Thing is it saves me alot of time and manual labour. Same thing as driving your car vs walking kinda.... Necessary evil?

I'm not saying I wouldn't do it if I wasn't on a septic system,. But as more and more people dump phosphorus and shit down the drain I just could imagine it having an impact. Just a thought. I hate to kill the stoner vibe though so I'll just shut up, :eyesmoke:

Nah I hear you. It's on my radar. I'm not oblivious to it, so maybe there's something I can figure out but for now, it's saving me time and effort.
