When do I put in 48 hrs of darkness?

I know there is alot of controversy over the whole 48 hrs of darkness thing, but I have read in multiple books that it does work. I'm not much interested in hearing how its a myth or not, what i want to know is when do i put it in 48 hrs of darkness? Do i got by trich color? or hair color?? Leaf color? I'm at that stage where things are starting to look a lot like fall in my grow box.

Wrong section first off..Second, I personally don't use a dark period but it's only because I have multiple strains that finish at different times, so I cannot speak to its efficacy, but you base the timing on trich color, just like harvesting. It's the last 48 hours of the plant's life.

So...if i wanted to have mostly or all amber trichs would i put in when the trichs are like 50/50? Does the darnkess affect the ripening speed of the trichs??

Hey bro. it's like more when your done...If your going to harvest Monday, then my opinion, start your 48hrs on that day u were set to harvest. The dark period as u may have read just causes the plant to go in sos, lol. It tries to download all it's goodness before it gives up the ghost. You really want your girl to be finished before the 48...my opinion bro...peace

hard to argue with logic.... +rep................... anyways if your not sure when you should harvest im betting you have bigger problems then how to achieve this mythical 48 hour darkness stuff... Id say dont worry about it get the basics down 100% ...Like the main factors light, meduim, nutes, atmospher, temps..... then start experimenting with advanced techs. If not then you have nothing to compre to anyways ...

All im saying is dont get cought up in all the hype in growing sometimes less is more.....

I agree, but but i'm good with my medium and my nutes and my light. I'm still working on a optimal feed schedule, but thats always going to be ongoing until i perfect it. As for knowing when to harvest, i know i am in week 8, i have a microscope and know my trichs are milky. I've seen 1 or 2 amber trichs here and there, but i'm going for a 50/50 amber/milky trich ratio. Its not like i'm doing anything else and am unable to put it into 48 hrs of darkness. The way i look at it 48 hrs of darkness isnt gonna hurt anything so why not do it? Some say it doesnt do anything some say it does. I'l take my chances. I might be a new grower but i still got clients that want a good product. I cant just say fuck it i'm learning this time around.

hell ya bro its a weed and completely situational so u do u, im doing the same as far as my experiments go. Im trying diff nute companies, flushing not flushing, and different cure methods. so if u have multiple plants and a extra space seperate afew and do both then compare and contrast but keep some variables the same like the date of the cut.
