OK so I'm about a week into flowering and i was wondering if its ok to trim my plants? There's a lot of foliage that needs to be taken care of so light can get through. Any suggestions?

To trim or not to trim - that is a hotly debated question.
You will find there are two schools of thought on this subject and neither can see eye to eye, so my advice is to do what you feel is right - don't trim or trim moderately (if that's your inclination).

Oh, and welcome to RIU my friend.

I don't trim at all. Others trim it all...

Some lollipop... usually removing lower growth (usually weeks 1 and 3) of course this is removing the whole of lower branches, more than just foliage.

If anything tie down and/or tuck back excessive foliage IMO...

If you're going to prune, do it at the end of week three when the stretch is done. Prior to that the plant may interpret a trim job as an animal attack, wind damage, etc and trigger an extreme stretch response.
