Well. if you're up here on the north side of the equator, your plants will be induced to flower pretty soon, and should finish properly in Oct-Nov.

The variety of the plant and the genes therein determine how long it will take to mature. I'm in the South and go with standard varieties that go about six months. Canada has breeders that claim they can get it down to around four months. They flower when the seasons change and the days get shorter. Up North it freezes early which is supposed to encourage even quicker response. It's usually by the end of November in my area. Just back up six months and that puts planting right about the last of May. Sometimes I plant a week later just in case it says warm longer. Starting them inside works for up North great so I'm going to start some indoors by July and plant by August 20. This will put harvest about two months past that. One of the biggest problems I have growing outside is finding places that get enough sun without compromising privacy.
