Damn! I'm on board with you Med ... really. :)

Be honest ... was this a spiritual experience?

Vi

PS: But contrary to your belief, and I submit this to you respectfully, I am for people as well. I'm for people having control of their lives and their destinies instead of government bureaucrats and politicians being in control.
You may say that. I watched the spiritualist Dr. Wayne Dyer last night and found myself in exactly the predicament he was describing. It may only be a short term awakening as I've had many, but enjoy it while it's here. I once suscribed to the book the power of positive thinking by N.V.Peale. Surprisingly enough, good things started coming my way. I'm a wee bit more jaded now. Have had many negative experiences (brought on by myself of course) and may be looking for some peace to last my short time left on earth. I've no diseases or anything but realize that I'm in the sunset years and nothing lasts forever. The thing he said that impressed me was that we are spirit in a human body, not humans with a spirit. I'm still trying to absorb that. we were born a spirit and all the bullshit we've encountered has worn us down and we need to remember we are spirit. Easier said than done. BTW on your people thingy, There are people that have no chance of ever getting to where you are, or even to where I am financially. It's like your freedom to do what you want with your money thing doesnt really matter if you have none or just barely enough to get by. I'm thinking that you have been so long past destitute that you have no recollection. There are many people in this country that don't get 3 squares and a cot. To piss and moan about the pittance the government takes is well, I'll leave it at that. There are a lot more important things than our tax bills.

Hey Med ... welcome to the world of the spiritually aware. :)

Do you remember me posting about the effect that Earl Nightengale had on me as a young man? Remember my postings on Jim Rohn and Zig Ziglar? At the core, they all speak about the same thing ... the greatness of Man and his spiritual being. Norman Vincent Peale, W.Clement Stone and Dr, Wayne Dwyer are no different either. Its all great stuff.

I went to an all day seminar a number of years ago in Pasadena. The speakers were Zig Ziglar in the morning and Jim Rohn in the afternoon. As great as Zig was, he was completely outdone by Jim Rohn. During Jim Rohn's presentation, I was struck with an astounding thought ... "This is exactly what Jesus did ... traveled around and gave positive, spiritual messages clothed in everyday language.... language that just hits you right between the eyes." That's what the Bible does too. My Jim Rohn tapes remain among my most valuable possessions.

And on your comments regarding the "poor." I agree that there are those who cannot fend for themselves. The problem with turning over to government, that which should be done by the private sector, is that government wastes the money and not enough gets to the center of the problem. Private charity is more efficient ... and private charity doesn't encourage more dependence and therefore more poverty as government does.

So does this mean you'll try and bait me into a screaming fit. I'll pass, see signature. I'll post my opinions, for that is what they are, and you post yours. No need to get personal, If you want to call me names and demean me, well yes I'll not listen to that crap and I will put you back on ignore. I never said I wanted to be your strawman.

I only bait you once you start screaming, that's what you've failed to realize........and are maybe now aware of? Like I said in above post, "..... ..."...........

"we were born a spirit and all the bullshit we've encountered has "worn us down" and we need to remember we are spirit."

I am amazed.. <rubs eyes> I'm seeing shyt I know I am... hopefully this truce will last longer than a day. =)

The spirit is not dependent on the flesh, whereas the flesh is not dependent on the spirit. It is the equal balance between the two that brings peace and prosperity.. for they both have their purpose. Living positively is a small step in joining the two counterparts together.

Day and 1/2 now and holding, although it's getting tougher.

I feel myself slipping into that big boiling pot of shit called political squabling. If I had a couple a more brain cells I'd leave this forum and take up life. I do have a pretty full life, but I'm sure I could find better things to do than to sit here and argue with concrete heads, I'm pondering this move as we speak.

Come on Med ...

Look, you took a sabbatical once before, remember? Hell, man ... it was a sad day for the forum not having you to argue with. Then you decided to come back. That was a sad day too ... but not as sad as when you left. ~lol~
