Ya I doubt you'll ever need to use them. I think that whole aspect of it is just bells and whistles.

if your plan on only veg with these I currently switched to Philips led tubes they drop Into a t8 bulb and they are very bright only 19 watts per tube and they work very well for mother and rooting . homedepot has them total would be about 110 and compare the out put to 450 watts t5 only using about 160 watts total .
