Which soil should I use?

I've searched and nothing with any solid answers came up.

After reading a bit, it seems that Miracle Gro is usually deemed as crap as it has slow-releasing chemicals that can hurt our precious plants.

On the contrary, I could not find anything good at Walmart either, its just more MG crap or other brands with slow releasing chemicals advertised as "3 month feed" and "6 month feed", etc. I see a lot of people making their own mixes with blood meal, bat guano, etc but I just want an all simple Perlite, Peat Moss and some Vermiculite as I will be feeding my crops with House & Garden's Soil A&B. I just can't seem to really pinpoint a good brand for relatively cheap. MG has Perlite but I also read it has chemicals in it as well. *Shrug*

Additionally, I do not want a huge amount of these. I am only going to be growing one plant, and possibly one or two more following for right now so I don't need huge quantities of soil sitting around as I do not have a place to store it.

Any good brands that may suit my needs?
 
fox farms ocean forest is good as is roots organic. You can also go to your local nursery/flower garden center and see what they sell. I'm using gardeners gold this year for some tomatoes and they are loving it. Picked it up for $8 a cubic foot, if you're only going to grow one plant at a time one bag will suffice so you may as well drop the $20 or so on the ffof or roots organic. If you're anywhere close to an organic farm they sometimes sell soil as well. Good Luck!

I agree.

Make your 1st grow as simple as possible with less chances of problems during your grow.
Well, worth the $20 for a bag.
Throw in a fabric pot and your good.
 
A good cheap mix os 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 vermiculite, and 1'3 perlite.. Always a good starter soil.. I grow in Coco with peat moss mix.. I get a 2 Kg brick of Coco called beats peet from rona for like 8 bucks.. and 3.2 cubic feet of peat moss, for like 20.. and It makes a shitload of soil to grow in.. and mj loves coco

I'll definitely check Fox Farms out, I'll probably have to order it from Amazon though.

Yep, that is what I wanted to do--1/3 of each ingredient however I just can't find any in my area that carry them other than Miracle Gro.

How so? I know what I need. I'm just looking for specific brands that are proven, and if any brands carry individual ingredients that that is fine too. In my area, I haven't found any worthwhile.
 
Look for.. Schultz.. I dont know if its only in Canada I doubt it.. But its reputable.. I think the nutrients in mg is like 0.05 NPK ratio.. I dont think that would hurt, like you said it could leech im not sure..
 
dude you need to rely less on manufactured shit and learn a little about soil biology. make up a base of peat/perlite then add composted manure or something for N. then add some rock phosphate and ground K. i add azomite, hoticultural grade charcoal, epsom salts, lime and lots of love. never fails.

All I found was Schultz Perlite and that was it at Walmart. I didn't find anything at Home Depot, it was all Miracle Gro for the most part unfortunately.

I'll just purchase some Fox Farm on Amazon.

I have a very limited selection in my area, if you would have read some of the thread I have not be able to even find Perlite, Peat Moss or Vermiculite aside from Miracle Gro and its needless chemicals. I also am only growing one plant, I am not going to buy all of those ingredients to house one plant which probably come in a 10 quart minimum.
