well its hard to compare when ones a grow area, and the other is a grow medium, but id have to say..if its a financial thing and you had to choose..id go with the box and lights..afterall what good would the hydroponic system be if you didnt have any way to use it..unless you planned on growing outdoors with it...which wouldnt work out that great with these high summer temps im going to guess
