Who Knows Their Lights?

I was considering many diffrent lights and styles, but what i need to know is:
Can you take (1) 600w mh/hps ballast and run (4) 150w light = 600w?
Will it be capable of starting 4 bulbs, or does starting (4) 150w bulbs = starting (1) 600w bulb.

Just considering in spreading the light a little more is all.
