Why did a clone of greenhouse lemon skunk turn out lemony ,but the mother did'nt

I've experienced some seeds producing lemon while others in there strain/seed pac did not.even a 6 week finishing strain I made/developed as an F1 produced 50% lemony and the rest not(white widow x dutch passion, passion 1).the strains great,its a balance between stony and trippy,& turns golden oft times.yeilds 1 to 2 oz with a 30day veg from seed.1 meter,and about 20%.
when a mother was not lemony and the daughter/clone was,it perplexed me greatly. as both were finished outside at the same time, with the same light,soil,ect.whats the variable that brings out the lemonyness in a lemon potential strain.ie super lemon haze,lemon kush,chitral,lemon widow, ect...? I truely appreciate any help also ? how do certain breeders manage to put various flavors into the genetics of a strain ie.blueberry,cocco,grape,strawberry cough,bubblegum,vanilla,cherry cola,and other non-natural to weed flavors,clearly someones figured out how not only flavor the plant they're now growing,but to permanently instill the new unnatural flavor in the weed? Any help would be much appreciated
