Will a male mature under 18/6 photo period

I a have a male "21" with strong genetics that I am trying to collect pollen from to play mad scientist with. I chopped the top rooted it and contained him to prevent uncontrolled pollination of my ladies. I kept the bottom half incase I kill the top before I get pollen. I put the bottom in the veg room but don't want to knock up my bubba kush female I'm still bushing out. So will the male drop pollen under 18/6 or am I safe

Dude I've only got a couple grows but it sounds like a big mistake.

if u want to keep the male aliver keep him by a window away from your females. males can live with only 4hrs of sunlight a day.

yes they will, once they blue ball enough they pop open.

not if you stop the flowering process in time to put it back to 18/6. You should be fine unless the male is pretth far along in flower.

So I went ahead and topped the male, A.K.A. "Dude", I locked up the top and set him into flower. But as a Plan-B I kept the bottom and put him out in the living room to finish away from everyone. Then incase I totally screw up I took some clones from way down low and have them in veg. Think I might go to 20/4, The thought being to keep fresh male genetics till I get to a strain I want to femanize
