Will Health Canada allow me to increase my prescription?

Does anyone have any experience with sending in signed forms to Health Canada for a certain amount of medical marijuana and then a few months later down the track obtain a new script from the same doctor for a higher amount? Can this be done? Will Health Canada make changes to the permit or card that they issue for this higher amount? I'm going from 20 grams to 40 grams a day. The doctor is willing to do this for $3000. Ouch. So I am considering it. But only if Health Canada will make the changes on the card/permit that they send to me. Or would they issue me with a new card/permit?

I haven't received my card/permit for the first prescription of 20 grams a day so I am wondering when I should send in the new prescription if and when I got it. Does anyone have any advice for me on this one?

Id say wait until you have your 1st card then persue with the next, ther may be room for error if you do both at once. I recieved a call back from a rep one time when calling the 1800 number in regard if they have processed my application. She told me they do them in batches, for example ; January 1st - 15th and once completed 15th to 30th. Im not sure if its 15 days but it is processed in batches. Recently my renewal came in 3.5 weeks.

Hey buckets I changed my limit the first year also. I had no issues at all with the increase. You have to remember that changes are comming down the pipeline next year so maybe instead of playing the waiting game, take your 20g limit or 100 plant count and roll with it till next year or at least until we know what the hell is going to happen.

Do you know how much product you can produce with a hundred plants? By my calculations that works out to over 300K the first year...not to shabby when you look at it that way.

I'm no expert on growing indoors or out. It would be nice to grow my own successfully being the key word there. I have a designated grower. I am aware that changes are coming which is why I was thinking if I bump up to forty now then in a year it will be at forty and I will only have to deal with the doctor to get a new prescription but I truly wonder how many people who are 20 grams a day or more are going to sit idly and be expected to pay $8 a gram and not be allowed to grow it themselves. I saw one lady on the news who was prescribed morphine for 18 years and then she went to pot and has a 100 gram a day permit. She has MS I think. That's 800 bucks a day and if my math is right about $8000 a month. The supreme court says we have the right to access medical marijuana but if it's out of our affordability range I wonder if we could argue that in court to destroy the conservatives new plan as being against the supreme courts ruling.

Can Health Canada refuse to increase a prescription? Do they have that power? Anyone been turned down before? Thanks for your comments.

Better be prepared to be criminals again.The government is turning the production and supply of mj over to pharmacueticals companys and already it is a mandatory sentance for over six plants now.They are going to be cancelling all grow permits in the near future,before the year is out.You gotta follow the news guys and pay attention cause this is real aand we are going backyards in our laws.

Buckets-if I were you,I would put a camra and recording device in my backpack and catch your docter asking for the money for the prescription on tape and blackmail the bastard for the scrp.

ha ha ha. That's a really good idea. He called it his admin fee because H/C won't cause to many problems if any for 20 grams a less he said but if it's 21 or over he'll get a call from HC asking why so high. He said he would play the blocker but would expect to get paid for it.

I've searched the internet for the HC 1800# for inquiries. Does anyone know that number as I am unable to find it even while on the HC website.

Has anyone else tried to increase their prescription and have they had an easy go of it or did health canada refuse to increase your prescription? I make the big leap next week. Paying a doctor 3 grand to increase my prescription 40 grams a day from 20.

Well Nocollins2K, I was okay with paying $500 for the 20 gram a day script but I agree paying 3K to go up to 40 grams a day is excessive. The doctor said he doesn't go above 40 grams a day. I wish I knew of other doctors in BC who would go to 40 grams a day and wouldn't charge that amount. However, I have the appoint with that doctor on friday the 18th. Plus I believe and correct me if I am wrong here, but these fees are tax return usable???

It's shit like this that is causing them to change regulations. How could you possibly go through 40 grams a day? I hope you sleep well at night knowing your greed is gonna wreck the lives of ACTUAL medical users that aren't abusing the system.

You're an asshole for posting like this. You realize that 40 grams net's probably LESS than 4 grams of usable oil. Basic therapeutic topical lotion requires 9 grams a batch. That's before making medical capsules, edibles and MAYBE having some personal smoke. Just because YOU can't use 40g a day doesn't in ANY way give you the right to judge someone else or their consumption.

Yeah, DimebagDave, Can I assume you are a smoker of marijuana? Of course you won't smoke that much in a day but if you are growing your own weed and you don't smoke it...and you instead use teas or maybe even go through the process of making marijuana oil, you can easily use this much. Nobody says that you have to use all 40 grams a day man. Plus I'd like to add that I know of people who get 60 grams a day, and one lady who was prescribed morphine for 18 years - she switched to pot...she gets a 100 grams a day!!! So my 40 grams a day is nothing to raise your eyebrows about.

Personally, I had testicular cancer and lost a nard. I've recently learned that marijuana oil - drop a day I think it was, reduces and then destroys cancer tumours and the pharmaceutical companies obviously don't want that news getting out. There's a brilliant you tube video about this if anyone is interested. It's all about the CBD's in marijuana oil. Thankfully I still have my prostate. How many guys get that form of cancer and only opt for the surgical intervention? Marijuana oil folks. So again to dimebagdave, oil making you're only left with 10% of what you started with in the final product. Hopefully you've learned something. You've only made two posts so far so I feel you judged me prematurely without even knowing my medical situation. I'll be taking marijuana oil drops for life.

No issue man. While we all know people do abuse the system. Hell there's probably abusers in this group. Certainly on the forum, There is NO EXCUSE to be a prick.

Sorry guys, i suppose I shouldn't have went off like that. I apologize. It's just frustrating seeing people get scripts like that just so they can sell. I know a few people that hang out at the local hydro store I frequent who just got between 40-60 each, $1000 signatures, who are gonna grow purely for profit. My wife has epilepsy and IF the changes do come about, we won't be able to afford $8 or more grams. Once again I'm sorry, I'm just frustrated.

I think most of us are frustrated with the changes. I certainly can't afford 8$ a gram. I'm hoping to bank enough meds this year that I won't have to buy next year. I'm the last guy to wanna rat somebody off for cheating the system but on the other hand it's genuine patients that get fucked. Quite frankly I often raise an eyebrow at some of the high prescriptions.
