Are you speaking about cuttings you are trying to root?

Get the cheapest thing you can find.If ya like the one ya posted grab it,it will work fine. You can use any damn light out there for cuts. And they don't need 24/0,18/6 or any specific light cycles. You can get roots under 12/12 if it tickles your fancy.

That light will be fine for cloning. You will want to get 6500k T-8 bulbs for it. They are best for veg.

dont go 12/12... they will stretch when the root and start flowering and it will fuck you up bigtime and double your veg cycle by the time your ready to transplant.
unless your running a 12/12 perpetual sog, i wouldnt use 12/12 for clones...

I was referring to "rooting".

If rooting is the only goal light cycle does not matter.

But if one was to root AND veg you are correct.

I have a spot for "rooting" only.

actualy light cycle does matter for clones. 12/12 lighting signifies flowering growth, and not growing growth. 12/12 light causes photoperiod plants to release the hormones needed to flower, even if there jst in a clone hence why clones have a much harder time under 12/12.

24 hours of light is by far the best for clones. as the light makes for a constant heat, and the most important factors for cloning or "rooting" are temp (76 F) and humidity (90%+)

but yea, that light is the exact same light i use for cloning.

I agree with you....to an extent.

I just feel that lighting is focused on to much in this area.I have had clones root just as fast under any light cycle, even stuck in a pot of dirt that was stuck in a tree in the back yard. And that is the focus.....to get roots.I have not done it but know of others that have rooted cuts in the dark, rooting within 2 weeks. It takes some that long drivin themselves mad with what lights, light cycles etc.

Your 2nd statement is the key,not lighting.

All i'm trying to say is most new growers put themselves through shit they don't really need to sweat.......
