Will I have to eventually transplant?

So I just planted some clones into 5gal. Home Depot Buckets. I'm growing outside and I heard that it is a little early still to start growing outdoors. My biggest concern is my plants eventually becoming root bound and possibly dying. I am willing to transplant if truly necessary, but I would rather keep them in the 5gals. So my question is, are my plants going to be fine until harvest in the 5 gals? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Not sure where you are growing but I am in Washington State and we can start them out in about 3-5 weeks. If you are South of here you are probably good, might want to harden them off first by putting them out during the day for a few days to get them used to outdoors (if you can). They will get rootbound with the months of grow time they will have. You could drill a bunch of holes in the bottom of the pots up the sides then drop the buckets directly into a larger pot or smart pots with just the bottom 1/3 of the 5 gallon set into the new pot. The roots will grow out of the 5 gallon into the new medium. Probably don't need to worry about it for months.

If it is a gorilla grow you could just drop the buckets with holes directly into the ground with some amended soil. If they need to be mobile then do as above. I would use 1/2" holes or larger and drill a lot of them.

I'm in Northern California in the Sierra Nevada foothills so I guess I'l be fine. It's just the timing of it all. I had to plant now, and they have to be movable. And It's not a gorilla grow, so I'll probably go with the bigger bucket idea.

People that say its to early are are thinking about the light schedule rather then the amount of time it will take to get root bound..

Another question for you guys is about Nutes. I'm using FFOF and i don't know if I should get the FF trio or if using something else will make a difference for better or worse. Also, when should I begin giving them nutes? And if I'm not using FF what should I be looking for?
