Will just any work? I mean any cfls? Or do you have to get a specific kind? See I went shopping and I decided to just make it easy on myself when picking out cfls. So I went Home Depot. Then got the most expensive biggest cfls they had for regular light socket plug in.

The box says they are:

I got Soft white.
300 watt equivalent.
68 energy used in watts.

Lighting Facts,
brightness 4200 lumens
light appearance 2700k

So will these work?

You bought the wrong bulbs.

Dude, basically, the smaller bulbs have the higher "K" number and are used for veg. The larger bulbs have a smaller "k" number and are used for flower. Get the highest "actual watt" bulbs ( not equivalent watts ) you can find. For veg bulbs look for 5000K-6500K and for flower look for 2000K-2700K bulbs. DO NOT split the difference and buy 4000K bulbs.

There is a tutorial somewhere on this site that explains that in detail.

fuck home depot, walmart has 4 packs of 23w day lights for vegging and soft whites for flowering for 9 bucks that work just fine

So these bulbs really are undesirable? Dang, you would think that this basic information would be stickied, or maybe it is I'm probably to medicated to know.

Wait a minute now. I DO already have the right bulbs, because I said that they were 2700k. Just for flower though not veg.

You actually need to read the stickies before you know the information contained within them.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but it seems like you need to do way more research before you attempt an indoor grow. Start reading some of the threads in this forum. All your questions have already been answered somewhere.

I've been using 2700k to grow 12/12 from seed and I can tell you that they do veg a lot slower under the 2700k lights but they DO work for the entire process. 6500k is much better for veg and then switch too 2700k when its time to flower.

5000k are full spectrum, ive done 6500k and have noticed a huge diff.. Id stick with 5000k


your 2700k are 23w or 26w actual watts?

keep te 2700k for when you switch to 12/12

68 actual watts isn't enough, but 300 'equivalent' watts is loads - it's, like, almost five times the actual amount.

I have 10-15 lights when i flower and get 2 oz off a 2.5 foot plant and my lightsa are 23w per light

You can get a seedling to reach for the sky by using a regular (not cfl) 40 watt bulb. That's what I tried using about 15 years ago when I had absolutely no clue about growing, around age 19. Of course, the result was pathetic, and then a "buddy" tried to bring over an under cover cop and I freaked out and threw them in the dumpster after not letting them in.

The lights you have will grow plants but if you find the receipt you might as well get what these guys are recommending.
