I want to have a growbox that is only about 15" high, to keep the plant as short as possible I was thinking of trimming the top after it gets to around 12" and keep doing that to prevent it from growing. But would it die?

if you top at 12" it will still outgrow ur designated 15"..

the thing is that plants even triple in height durin flowering, so...you either flower at 5" (which i personally dont feel comfortable with. i think that plant got to have sturdy stem and 4/5 sets of nodes to start flowering) or..get a bigger box which is better option in my view..
