Will using ph up/down liquid made for hydroponics work on soil? If not, someone tell me which one is good for soil. Thanks a bunch.

Yes it will work very well but I would suggest also taking a reading from the water mix that drains out of the bottom. Just remember to adjust in small steps or you will cause problems.

you should ph the water you give to the plants, if your talking about what i think you are then yes, they will work perfectly fine to ph your water.

by that you mean check the water i'm giving my plants? just stick the probe in water? i'm fairly new to this so i don't know much. i tried to find an article on ph and how to control it, but couldn't find it.
right now my ph was at like 6.0. i gave it food yesterday so that may have been the cause, because before i fed her food, the ph reading was at like 6.8. but then again the ph meter i have is a piece of crap that has 1 long probe and a green box on top that has the reading of ph. i barely move the meter before putting in the soil and the needle goes crazy. gonna have to invest in a better tool.
are there any household products that i can use to raise/lower ph? if so, which ones and how do i apply it? thanks a bunch!!!

As long as you have nice soil, PH shouldn't be a problem, you are most likely getting higher levels from your water. You should let your water sit out for at least a day if you are using tap water so chemicals like chlorine will dissipate. Then you want to test the PH of the water and adjust that (if necessary) before adding it to your soil. You have a lot of options depending on your specifications. If you are buying just a phdown solution, they usually tell you if they are good in soil or better for hydroponics. I've just ordered BioCanna PH down (an organic ph down solution), but I haven't used it yet, so can't review. Adversely, if you want to down it, most solutions are largely citric acid so you can experiment with citric heavy foods at home (tho the effect might not last as long) Dolomite lime is good mixed into the soil or diluted into water to stabalize PH (organic again) or you can use like sulphur or things like that

it will work, just mix a gallon of water with an adjusted ph, say your soil is 6.0 and you want 6.8 then try 7.4 or 7.5 and water with that.

water has a high ph, the more nutes you add the lower it drops the ph. bone meal and lime are both great in soil for adjusting ph

good luck!

THE FOOD I'M USING IS "TECHNAFLORA KIT FOR SUCCESS". I ORIGINALLY HAD IT FOR A HYDRO SET UP, BUT I CRUSHED MY BABY BY ACCIDENT, GOT PISSED OFF AND KICKED MY HOMEMADE HYDRO SET UP TO PIECES. I HAD TO GO TO SOIL BECAUSE OF THAT. LOL. THIS IS THE STUFF I WANTED TO GET OFF EBAY, GENERAL HYDROPONICS 8 oz pH UP & DOWN ADJUSTER SOLUTION
ITEM NUMBER: 120560113105.
YA'LL TELL ME IF THAT IS OK? I NOTICED ALSO, BEFORE I FED MY BABY, THE PH LEVEL WAS LIKE 6.6 - 6.9, BUT AFTER I FED HER LAST NIGHT, CHECKED PH TODAY, WAS LIKE 5.8 - 6.0
IS THAT NORMAL FOR WHEN AFTER YOU FEED? I DON'T KNOW IF THE PH METER I HAVE IS GOOD FOR WATER. WHEN I BOUGHT IT IT SAID SOIL PH METER.
I'M GOING TO INVEST IN A DIGITAL METER SO THAT WAY I CAN GET AN ACCURATE READING FROM A GOOD METER, NOT SOME METER THAT LOOKS LIKE IT CAME OUT OF A DOLLAR STORE.
HERE ARE A FEW PICS OF MY BABY FOR YOUR EYES TO FEAST ON. HAHAHA.LOL.
THE FIRST ONE IS 2 WEEKS OLD, THE SECOND PIC IS 2 WEEKS, 3 DAYS, AND THE 3RD IS JUST A SIDE SHOT SHOWING OFF HER SEXY CURVES. SHE GROWING SLOW CUZ I ONLY HAVE 3 CFL'S IN THERE. 1 6500K & 2 2200K. I KNOW THAT AINT THE CORRECT LIGHT AND THAT IS WHY SHE GROWING SLOW, BUT IT WILL HAVE TO DO UNTIL MY OTHER 6500K ONES COME IN.

That lighting isnt why its growing so slow, thats enough light for that stage. i'd use more but those things are still seedlings. just ph your water you give to them, the ph up/down will work fine. How far away are you keeping your lights? I'm thinking thats why they are growing so slow.

right now i'm keeping 2 lights 2 inches above the plant, and 1 light sideways also 2 inches from the plant. I'm waiting till I get more to put 1 more sideways on the other side of her.

if i were you i would buy a 24hour peak thermometer and a ph tester, its a total of maybe 40$ that will make a world of difference.
