Wilting Seedlings

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and wanted to say I really enjoy the community here. Everyone seems very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help. Having said that, here is my issue. First and foremost, I'm a total noob. I'm working on my first grow. I'm using bag seeds to try and get some growing experience before using my more expensive seeds. The seeds were germinated and planted by my sister. I think she may have planted the seeds to deep as I didn't see her do it. They all germinated with the root tip and were planted into peat pots. I placed the seeds in a propagator on top of perlite and put water into the tray to allow the pots to wick the moisture. 12 seeds were planted but only 2 sprouted. They looked good until this morning when I checked on them and they had wilted. The temperature has been consistently between 75 - 80. I recently got a thermostat to help regulate the temp using a heat mat. I'm in the process of building my grow room, which is next to the cabinet where my seedlings are. (I'm not sure if the construction may have contributed to the wilting?). Anyways, can the seedlings be salvaged or should I start from scratch? Also, any ideas where I messed up? Suggestions for improvement are very welcome! And should I try replanting the seeds that didn't sprout or just toss them? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Anyone? I'm thinking its too much water that caused the wilting...am I right? Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

yeah stop giving here water until the soil becomes dry ontop, like f-in crispy on top about 2-3 inches in depth, that should fix your problem. also try getting a fan to circulate the air around, that will help dry the soil faster. As seedling they dont need that much water

Thanks Germany! I'll pick up a small fan on my way home today. One more thing...is tap water okay or should I used distilled?

Yeah less water... I'd start them in smaller containers too, then transplant into bigger containers, saves time and space... Seeds that are more subject to damp off, probably weren't made at their full potential. Some type of shortage or stress in the plants system, was probably happening when the seed was made.

Hmmm...thanks Vincent. Makes sense...I know my sister said it wasn't very potent to begin with. I'll pick up some smaller pots or coco coir. Thanks for the help!
