Witches Broom

Hey guys, new to this joint...looking for someone who has felt my pain. All my girls in my outdoor grow have witches broom. I'm in Michigan so flower has started. Anyone dealt with this first hand? Debating on chopping them all or riding it and and seeing if I can get any smokable cola's off them. Not a happy camper!!!! Always something to battle growing outdoors. I've been using a neem foliage spray blend the last few months before this came on as well as Fox Farms liquid nutrients. Thanks in advance

What the hell is witches broom

I'm still reading into it but from what I am seeing it is an infection that cannot be reversed and basically ruins your plants. My plants show all the characteristics of it. New grow is shriveled and almost looks black and mouldy. I'm still in denial lol

Phytoplasma witches’ broom
Hemp is prone to phytoplasma infection, and once infected, plants exhibit severe witches’ broom-like symptoms.
  • Diagnostic characteristics: Witches’ broom symptoms typically resemble crowded leaf growth on single branches or a dense cluster of abnormal growth. Leaves in a cluster are very small, yellowish and not fully developed. Early infected plants may be severely stunted or killed by the bacteria. While plants infected later may not die during the season, symptomatic plants are useless for harvest. In the middle or late season, some plants may show clusters of witches’ broom symptoms on certain branches, while the rest of plant looks normal, which suggests only a portion of the plant is infected.

Thanks for confirming that. Its a shame. I know Phytoplamsma is the same as witches broom. So its sounds to be the the same or at least similar to whay youre talking about. Its nasty. Have they found anything to slow it down or combat it with? Thanks for the reply man.

I was spraying neem, pytherin, and dusting my plants with DE and leafhoppers still infected my plants. So far I have found topping the infected parts early on helps but once in the stretch phase I just cut out the infected branches out before it gets worse.

Thanks! I actually just cut mine way down and also apply neem...we will see if I caught it in time. Good luck with your battle too. The downside of outdoors grows i guess lol happy growin'
