Wondering...can I make any standard "universal soil" into "light soil" by flushing it?

Rather than getting seedling soil or pro mix or similar....it just dawned on me that you could just flush any normal soil and turn it into light soil..so it isn't "too hot" for seedlings. Am I correct?

I think it's better to "water down" hot soil with extra peat moss or perlite so you have less nutrients per gallon.

I'm not sure you can't wash everything out of soil like that.

Most soils have time released nutrients so washing them out isn't really possible. As the poster above said, you can add perlite peat or another neutral soil additive to make the soil less nutrient rich.
