Would this design workout?

Well obviously the middle two sites will get 100% flow and the outside rows will each get roughly half that (unless roots block up the lines).

Due to roots plugging up the lines, it's difficult to run RDWC without large pipe like 2 or 3 inch and that pipe size works better with sites having flat sides (not round buckets) for the bulkhead fittings.

If you do go the barbed fitting route I highly recommend using 1 inch, not 3/4 or 1/2. The 1/2" is pretty much guaranteed to plug up with roots as the water flow will push them into the outlet ports. 3/4 is gonna plug up too but perhaps not as quick.

If you do use the sub 2 inch size lines then I would pop a 1/2" overflow port up above the normal water level in the middle site or even better all sites, run it to a floor drain. This way if roots plug up the outlets on the middle row they won't overflow all over the place, just to the drain. You would have to lift the net pots out of the sites to clear the roots, not something that can be done if the plants are trellised so thats another reason to go large.
