But that bill is BS, too heavy on the social justice garbage

All the 'social justice' BS

I could no longer locate a copy of the bill, but from the congressmans website

· Incentivize states through federal funds to change their marijuana laws if marijuana in the state is illegal and the state disproportionately arrests or incarcerates low-income individuals and people of color for marijuana-related offenses;


· Create a community reinvestment fund to reinvest in communities most impacted by the failed War on Drugs and allow those funds to be invested in the following programs:

^. That's not "BS", its legitimate redress of inequaties created by failed government policy.

Drug war casualties count in the millions and very few of them proportionally were bad people that should be locked up.

Years in jail for user only portions of a drug in their possession. Heavier penalties if you were OTC. (Other Than Caucasian).

Losses of homes, families, careers and lives for doing something that harmed no other person unless it's addictive nature drove one to crime to support their habit.

Stop the opiod crisis now by treating addicts as sick people in need of help instead of criminals in need of incarceration. Give them safe drugs to protect their lives long enough that they may have a chance to turn their lives around. Of course many won't but even saving one is worth the effort. By not having to commit crime after crime to support their habits the overall crime levels in most categories will drop dramatically. So much money will be saved it's beyond me to calculate the amount.

Bring them in contact with people that can help them and many will accept a way out of the horror of their lives.
