WTF!?!?! I bought a few cfls...

I bought a few cfls for planting, and they won't work in a regular light socket? what do i need?
It says on the bottom of the light (not suitable for direct current circuts)....wtf does that mean? They are 65watt Cfls, the long kind...they fit in the socket, but don't turn on, but i have tested it with regular bulbs, and the socket works...help please?

the long kind, meaning not the spiral ones? I've never tried those, but I don't see why they wouldn't work. Return them? And I believe the outlets in your house are all AC (alternating current) except for things like stove, washer, dryer which are DC (direct current)... and then there is that band which is both..

not suitable for direct current circuits...this means it is not for use with DC circuits..many electronic devices use DC.......the electrical in your home is AC, so your good on that, as far as why the bulb light...need some more info on the bulbs you are using....can you post a link to the same bulb online some where?

i'm assuming it's like this one.. Amazon.com: Designers Edge 65-Watt Compact Fluorescent Bulb (300-Watt Incandescent Equivalent) #L-765: Home Improvement ..in which case it needs a certain fixture...the fixture contains the ballast....instead of the bulb.......like most CFLs......so you need a 65-watt fixtures with ballast. The lamp itself does not have a ballast

Is it 65W?...or is it eqivalent to 65W?....if it's 65W then it's probably the socket itself...it could only be rated for a max of 60W.
