Blonde brown powder on just a few of the "preflowers" as can be seen in the pics. Seems concentrated on the tips of leaves like it is being transpired and drying. Feels kinda greasy almost when you wipe the tips of the leaves with your fingers and smells like a concentrated smell of the plant. Its a momma and never been flowered. Grown in a dwc 5gal drip bucket system. Roots are white as snow.

ph is 6.1 and the
res temp is 70.1*F
Room temp is 76*F
RH 56%.
Nutrient ppm is on the lower end at 315.
FF Grow Big hydroponic nutes.
Under (4) 4' fluoros along with another plant exhibiting the same thing.
Different strain-but grown exactly the same in every other reguard.

Aside from the "blonde brown powder" as we'll call it, they are looking gorgeous. Great growth, leaves standing up with good color, no browning/yellowing/spotting/leaf curl etc.

Any input? I cant find literature or pics about it anywhere.
Anyone who knows me, knows I try to help others as much as I can on here....but now is my time of need.

If it was me I'd drop the ph of a gallon of water to about 5.5ph with some sulferic acid then bring it back up to 6.5-7ph with some bleach. Spray the shit outta it with a pump up sprayer. You'll have to sterilize the entire grow-op.

This sucks :( Thanks @testiclees , I believe that russets are the culprit. Im going to try safer brand wettable sulfer and give em a bath. I think if I cant get rid of em in the next week, Im gonna have to chop everything and nuke the room.
@SPLFreak808 I looked and dont see any movement, but look like cylindrical worm casings. I cant get a pic with my scope though cus I dont have the phone setup to do it or I would share pics for others with this problem.

@bird mcbride spreay the shit outta it with a pump sprayer full of what?

I just chopped everything down :finger:
I will NEVER get clones from ANYONE else ever again. Lesson learned.
I have read that wettable sulfer sprays/sulfer should work for anyone not in a position to cut down.
I cant afford to have this make its way to my flower room less than 3 wks from harvest.
I shut everything down and hope to keep the spread away for a few more wks. Then I can pull everything out and give it a total nuke.
Gotta start all over again from fem seed I have.:wall:
Thanks for the replies and info/links. Though not what I wanted to hear, it is what I needed to hear.

Put the gallon of treated water as mentioned in my post into the pump up sprayer. The mix mentioned can also be very safely sprayed on budding plants. It's no different than a res water with a little added sulfer without NPK. Basically city water but just a bit stronger. A little NPK can be added to foliar feed in an effort to fortify the plant(s). I woulda just tossed it out also:) It's a real shame though as she is/was a really pretty plant.

It's Russet Mites and you will not be able to flower with them around.
Do your research and get rid of them.
If you're in Denver or the front range area I could be more helpful.
Good luck

I've had good success with floramite. I create a floramite & eagle20 dip in a 5 gal bucket, and dip anything new that comes into the garden. You can buy smaller quantities on ebay for example, like 1oz bottles for like $20 (floramite, avid, forbid, e20, etc.) that can make several gallons vs at the store for $100+ for an 8oz normal bottle which is way too much, you can make hundreds of gallons which is not needed. Absolutely nothing comes into the garden without a contamination dip. It's a lab imo, so I think of it that way and keep everything extremely clean, and be preventative.

Bump since I saw someone else on here today with the same problem & wanted to help others see what Russet Mites look like.

Buy (2) 2 oz pyrethrum foggers @ .4% pyrethrum active ingredient. They are good for up to 3000 sq ft.
Dont bother buying "Doctor Doom" brand cuz they are weak @ .04% vs .4% for the Pyrethrum foggers. They are good for up to 3000 sq ft.

1. Clean entire room from top to bottom with a 10% bleach water solution. Vacuum every square inch of the room. Mop the floors with bleach water solution as well. Be sure to wipe down and sterilize ALL equipment that was in use or in the grow room with alcohol wipes or something similar..

2. Blow off a Pyrethrum fogger in your room.
*******Be sure to do this with all fans/lights/pumps/ballasts or any other electrical item that can create a spark since the foggers have a flammable propellant.
Allow 2 hours time for the fogger to settle after going off then go in the room then turn on exhaust fans and circulating fans.

3. Repeat step 1.

4. After 3 days repeat step 2 by using the second Pyrethrum fogger. Dont clean the room after the second fogger.
The reason for the second bombing after the 3rd day is due to the fact that the pyrethrum wont kill the eggs of the few that may have still lived after the nuclear assault. When the mites get bombed like that, it is in their genetics to basically hatch their eggs as a means of survival. Bomb number 2 is what kills off everything left after bomb 1. Total eradication.

From here on out I would build a maintenance routine of 1 pyrethrum fogger every 4 weeks or so and be sure to use a neem oil spray to mist entire plants top to bottom (leaf undersides included) at least once before introducing any plants into the room. Once plants have been introduced into the room you can use the neem oil spray as a preventive about 2 times a month.

The pyrethrum foggers are safe to use in a room with plants as well since the pyrethrum wont hurt the plants -but if they are placed too close to plants, the propellant will burn the leaves. Id give about 1-2 feet distance of the fogger and any plants if possible.
You can safely use the foggers up to the last week before harvest also.
DO NOT USE THE FOGGER IN A CLOSED TENT.

Been running this for many months since my russet mite ordeal that ruined all my clones and mommas. I have a thread and pics on here somewhere showing my outbreak.
I've been free of any Russet Mites since my total nuke and maintenance program.

Are you sure you even had russet mites? Here's what it looked like in one of my veg rooms a couple months ago. Notice the leaf edges curling up.

@Aeroknow Im certain it was russet mites.

@WestDenverPioneer I had a scope, but it wasnt what I needed at the time to see them actually crawling, but honestly didnt need it due to the severity of my infestation. You could see it with the naked eye it was so bad. Its been months and still no sign of em. I do follow a tight maintenance schedule now though. Lesson learned.

@hotrodharley Whats good man? I havent been on for a while now. Testiclees told me about the sulfer before, but when I went to the grow store they had no clue what I was talking about. I looked online and only found high dollar systems and like 1 week shipping time.
The link you provided....is that everything one would need? If so, I can handle that. Also where do I get the solution to vaporize if not found locally? Is it the "Prills" they have listed that I need to use in the burner?

Check this one on eBay - $19.95. Yes buy a bag of the prills. There are cheaper ones even but I like the materials this is made of. Be sure to not go in and breathe those fumes.

Ordered. Thanks brother. I dont have any issues now, but will do whatever I can to keep it that way. I read that the mites can build immunities to treatments if you dont switch it up from treatment to treatment and go total nuke on the inbetweens. I feel for the lads runnin perpetuals that encounter any form of infestation..

Thank you. That was the responsible thing to do. Pyrethrums aren't safe, contrary to conventional wisdom. Sulfur for mites seems safer.

Pyrethroids:
Inhalation: coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, runny or stuffy nose, chest pain, or difficulty breathing.

Skin contact: rash, itching, or blisters.

Long term effects: disrupts the endocrine system by mimicking the female hormone, estrogen, thus causing excessive estrogen levels in females. In human males, its estrogenizing (feminizing) effects include lowered sperm counts. In both, it can lead to the abnormal growth of breast tissue, leading to development of breasts in males and cancerous breast tissue in both male and females.

Neurotoxic effects include: tremors, incoordination, elevated body temperature, increased aggressive behavior, and disruption of learning. Laboratory tests suggest that permethrin is more acutely toxic to children than to adults.

Other: A known carcinogen. There is evidence that pyrethroids harm the thyroid gland. Causes chromosomal damage in hamsters and mice; deformities in amphibians; blood abnormalities in birds.
