I too am prescribed Xanex. I'm prescribed the 2mg green bars. Not the white 1mg ones.. but the 2mg green ones. I used to be on the triangled ones.. which were 4mg if I remember correctly.. and they were also time release.. they had a time release coating on the outside of them.. and were shaped like a triangle.. only with smooth points.
But, since I'm currently on methadone.. my doctor doesn't want me taking my Xanax because mixing the two medications can be fatal and usually is. Needless to say.. I smoke a lot more than I use to, to help deal with my anxiety/panic/stress attacks, since I can't take my Xanax right now.
Anyhow, you should tell your doctor that prescribes them to you about whats going on. If your wanting off the Xanax.. tell him that and he'll start bringing you down off of them.. usually around a few milligrams at a time. They do it that way, to keep withdraw symptoms at a tolerable level where its not so bad and rough on the patient that's coming down off of them.
Currently.. I'm coming down off the methadone and they're bringing me down off of it.. at around 2mg to 4mg every two weeks. Once again, they do it slowly like that.. to help keep withdraw symptoms at bay.. or at least keep them at a tolerable level for the patient that's coming down. It may take longer to get off of the medication.. but its much safer to do it that way.. which is why most good knowledgeable doctors do it like that.
anyhow, best of luck to ya man.
peace.
