Anyone ever consider using Xenon HID lights from a car? They are pretty damn bright and come in the kelvin ranges most people would consider using. I'm sure a setup can be salvaged from a junk yard and the bulbs are dirt cheap compared to bigger HID normaly used for indoor growing + they only require a 12V converter. I know it'll still be kinda expensive but if the bulbs go out, you can always buy 'em cheap. what do you guys think?:peace::peace::peace:

Theres different types of xenox headlamps though. The more expensive ones used in luxury cars are the only ones I'd grow with. But yea it would be cool because they have all different types of color temperatures (Bi-xenon).

Thanks man, this is somthing that I might be looking into in the near future if this little girl: https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/215144-1st-grow-bagseed-thought-sativa.html, makes it.:peace:
hi, Yes it is possible. HID kits for cars are basically mini metal helide lamps. They come in 3000K to 25000K and woulb be a great candidate for stealth grow box. HID kits are cheaper now you can get a kit for about $60 a pair, these lights are only 35 watts and 55 watt kits are available. These lights put out 3500 lmin a piece not bad for 35 watts. If you get an old housing say one from a fog driving light, you can focus the beam to the plants. Use a 6000 or 8000K for veg and switch to a 3000K for bud. These 3000k's look very yellow so i believe they are much lower in temp that they claim. I'm building a small grow box as we speak and will post pics soon. Another advantage is these lights don't produce a lot of heat the only own side is they don't last long in a car. they are ratedfor 3000hrs but are known to fail much sooner. I'm hopping that road vibration and under hood heat may contribute to such a short life, and if they are kept cooler in a grow box, they will last longer. Initial test show awesome light penetration, way brighter and better than CFL. I'm certain these willwork better than cfl. Another posiblity is to run this HID system on a solar or wind generator and a battery because these are 12volt dc. Drawing only 6 amps for two lights this is easy to achieve.

Late reply but thank you. I've been gone for a while and decided against this idea. Instead I will concentrate on Cold Cathode tech insted with CFL lighting, Xeno420
