Yeild sativa vs Indica

Hi guys,

Is there any difference in yield between sativa and indica strains?

It seems that I have been always growing sativa strains. it has not been my preference but somehow I have always been buying sativa strains seeds. However the last time I purchased seeds I got one indica strain as a freebee.

Now I have 7 plants in flowering week 4.

6 of them are sativa(by the look of their leaves) and one definitely is indica.

What surprises me the most is that the indica one has grown huge buds already while it is actually sitting away from the most light. It is almost covered 50% of a stem with buds.

All sativa plants are ok but they are no match for that indica bud sizes and I would say they have buds in sizes at least half of what the indica one has grown already.

Is it how it goes with theses strains or I have a monster?

It is 30% bigger in size though because it was sitting outdoor in a partial shade for some time and stretched a lot but considering it is not even receiving as much light as other six it looks just amazing.

I put a light on it at an angle as there is nothing ready to hook this light above it. However I have a spare 600W LED and I can try to get inside my cabinet, made some hooks and put it above it. If it looks so great at this stage may be this extra light directly from above will turn it into a pound yield plant.

The first thing to consider is that sativas can sometimes take significantly longer to flower than Indicas. My indica strains usually flower in 8 to 10 weeks. Many sativas need 14+ weeks. Indica also tends towards squat plant structure with tight internodal spacing and dense bud structure.. so it isn't always the case that indica will yield more total weight than a sativa, but they will most always have denser buds and a better bud to leaf ratio.

Pure sativa will yield less than most pure indica because of bud density and the way they grow. But sativa hybrids will yield close to the same (Jack Here and Train Wreck were both decent yielders with tight nugs).
