yellow leaves and red stems

i need help i am a new grower my first grow i have one plant thats sick i am trying a small homemade dwc

2 gal tote
2 100 w 65k cfls
1/4 strength foxfarms
ph level always 5.8
plant bagseed 4 weeks old
growing in lava rock
lights on 12/12 from seed

i see yellowing on lower leaves looks like burnt spot on lower and upper tips are getting burnt and the stems are turning purplish red
was going so good been on nutes for 2weeks and now seems id has a bunch of problems

i have 2 other plants in a AG thats growing great i would love to see if maybe this plant can be saved i hope someone can help me

Sorry,I don't know,but I would back off the nutes a little. I just saw this problem somewhere I don't remember where.I like your set up that's the way to go for me. How's your roots?

roots seem nice and white and i am only using now just 1/4 strength big bloom and grow big so should i try 1/8th ???? :peace:

I'm gonna guess your using distilled or r/o water and not supplementing cal/mag

wow yes i am you think cal mag would help me as i just not sure what to do and i dont have a lot of funds to try and chase down what i need and i would rather buy once what i need ....as id love to save her

If your using distilled or r/o and not using cal/mag, then I'm positive it will fix it. 2+2=4 if you know what I mean.

ive been trying to find how much to add to the mix would anyone know how much to add?

Dolomite lime is not a good choice for a hydroponic Ca Mg supplement. You need some Botanicare CalMag Plus. Dolomite lime will raise your pH, which ain't what your looking for.

Dolomite lime is a soil amendment, not a hydroponic additive.

wow so many ideas i stopped by the garden center as we dont have a hydro store close by.... told him what i was doing with my tomatoes :leaf:

lol and he told me to try this garden lime one tsp per gallon place it in hot water and dissolve it and add it ...... does that sound right to anyone

your plant is already burnt so increasing nute strength will make it worse. just flush your plant and get a good cal/mag and this should sort out the problem. then continue with 1/4 strength.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but just because he uses ro or distilled water does not mean he has to supplement cal mag. A lot of nutes come with the neccessary cal mag in their formula so wouldn't adding cal mag induce toxicity if his nutes also have it? I run a DWC and have never used cal mag...

they don't put enough to compensate you removing it all in r/o or distilled. His symptoms are clearly a ca/mag def.

Some are formulated for RO water (enough Ca and Mg), and some are meant for tap water (which usually has calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, maybe some low levels of nitrates, etc).
