Yellowing Leaves, Please Help...

Hey Guys,

So its been a while, so hi to everybody! I been growing for three years now, but I am having some problems with my current batches, they are really yellowing. I have been doing the riddlem3's make it rain type grow, so I flush every other watering and then feed just before the soils dry. I have tried flushing for a few days to see if there is salt buildup, I have then tried feeding a couple cycles to see if the color comes back.

It doesn't seem to be impeding the bud production, but I want nice green healthy plants.....if anybody can help me narrow this down it would be really helpful and greatly appreciated!

I'm on a monthly cycle where I veg my clones for two months and them flower for around three, I do 4 plants at a time and harvest four every month, which means every month 4 goes in, There are a total of 12 in the flower chamber and 8 in the veg chamber....(which coinkadinkaly is the fridge that I posted a DIY for, three yrs and still kicking..lol)

On a side note, can temperature changes cause this discolouration in the leaves.

MY grow details

4x4
600watth hps
400watt mh (now hps, bulb just burnt out)
soil
20-20-20 full cycle
average temperature 80d, drops about 10-15 degrees at night
sativa strain (not sure what the strain is, I got 11 beans from attitude 3 years ago, planted and flowered them all, but cloned them and then kept the best two strains..not sure what they were as I dropped the seeds and the lables got mixed up lmao....i may have been high)


there are two plants and as you can see they are a bit different in the amount of yellowage.....both are the same strain and on the same watering and feeding schedule...

BTW i have read the plant problems thread but can't pin it down. I wouldn't have asked without having tried to pin it down myself first, so thank for any help!

i find that sum plants start to yellow leaves sum drop leaves sum turn brown sum turn purple and brittle sum do nothing at all

this starts at about 2/3 of flower cycle -diff plants and diff phenos react diff


i have done experiments with fan leaves and found large fans only affect part of plant connected to
and are only needed till stretch is finished - is why sum plants discard and refuse to support after not needed any more

that would make sense, im at about 2/3 the way through flower, they have about 3 weeks left...thanks for the reply!

Hey brother, this is a very common occurrence that in the late bloom cycle is an indication of no residual nitrogen fertilizer. Bloom nutrients are at best a small source of N as it promotes fast, green, leggy branches and leaves and impedes flowering (some say). I noticed you run a 12 week flowering, this is part of the problem. Any strain would lose significant vigor without compensation both in veg and bloom. Nitrogen, Sulphur, Magnesium, Calcium, Iron are 5 elements that produce a greening effect. (insta -Green) comes to mind, also seaweed extract comes to mind as it has a restorative property as well as trace elements that are useful, unique, and a rare treat. I see deficiency, I need more information. how many weeks? 20-20-20 veg/flower? any additives? ph meter? we can fix this.

These plants are at about 16 weeks, 8 weeks into their flower

From clone the plants veg for 8 weeks, they go into the flower chamber and take about 12 to finish, I am using 20-20-20 with micronutrients added for the whole cycle once a month I add a small amount of neem to the water with a bit of palmalive to break it down about a 1/2 teaspoon to 4l of water. Typically I add this will the nutes.

As for running a 12 week flower, not sure how I can change this, that is just how long they take to finish, can you elaborate on how this may be a problem and what you are thinking about for a solution.

No ph but I checked my water in the past in it was in right range.

I water, wait about three days, feed and then wait until they want water again and repeat the process, each time I water I flush them.

1st off are you using soil or coco? are you on a limited budget? if so, how limited?

shultz soil - its a premix from walmart

yellowing leaves are usually a nitrogen def. Bring up N a bit and you'll probly see that sort itself out. Burgertime definitely put it in the best words.

Buds are lookin tasty though!

ok, I am familiar with Schultz as well as a 1 part fertilizer? Ok, well I am not saying you can't get decent nutrients from walmart but the one you are using is very difficult to use properly and this causes problems. 1st you are flushing too much, water until runoff is acheived and stop. 2nd use that ph meter religiously.....ph makes food available.....when they starve yellowing is just one of the shitty situations you will end up in. Most people use different fertilizers for the different growth stages and have to spend a bit more but soil is cheaper and you are not saving money and/or time by using the schultz. One question can we get a couple things that you need from a hydro store? I can help you with the time problem I think.....just elaborate, I am kind of a tech dude, but I wanna see happy gardens. Please respond by private message if possible. It gets like a zoo, and I just want to help.

A water soluble source of N would do them right. You could go Mr Wizard and make your own Potassium Nitrate to feed them.
