Yellowing of leaves, brown spots, red stems.

Hey,

First time grower here.

Plant:
Automatic Super Skunk from White Label Seedbank.

Setup:
Setup is indoor. 400w HPS with a Sunmaster Dual Spectrum Grow+ bulb.
Tent is 1.2m*1.2m*2m with desk fan for air circulation.
Temp is on average 27-29 degrees Celsius.
Humidity averages around 45% - 55%.
Light cycle is 24hrs.

Medium:
Growing in Canna Terra soil.
Pot size is 15L, 30cm tall.

Watering:
I've been watering whenever pots feel light and topsoil is crusty.
This was initially every 5 days but is now down to every 3.
Every 2nd feed has been a flush of pure water.

Nutrients:
I have been using Platinum nutrients (French).
These are a Grow, a Bloom, and an Enzyme booster (this was only given once ~1 week before flowering).
Very light doses have been given but 2 weeks ago i increased the dose slightly.
Doses are still half the manufacturers recommended amount.

Stage:
Plant is 36 days old (as of 1/9/13). It began flowering on day 29.
Its 53cm tall and roughly 60cm wide.

Problem:
Initial problems began on day 8 after sprouting. Leaves looked patchy with bright patches on very dark leaves. Tips began to curl up without drying out.
2 of the early fan leaves completely closed. Sorry but i have no pics from this stage.

Over the next 2 weeks new growth continued to improve although still with some level of discoloration and slight curling.

This was during a heatwave the likes of which we don't usually get here so the temp in the tent was always 30 degrees Celsius minimum. Peaks hit ~34.

Once the weather got cooler thing started looking up although 3 days ago i noticed some fresh problems.
There are now brown spots appearing on nearly 1/3 of the leaves. This is occurring all over the plant but mainly in the middle section.

Some leaves (~5 of them) have started yellowing and withering. These leaves have the worst necrosis.

Also stems up near the top are turning red on their topside.

Research has told me that this is more than likely a Mg or Ca problem. I just don't know if its a deficiency or pH lockout.
I have an analog pH testing device (that i do not trust). This is currently reading slightly above seven although its accuracy seems to be mainly on the acidic side so whether its 7.1 or 7.5 i do not know.

I have 2 auto amnesia haze (1 flowering, the other vegging) that are both growing perfectly fine in this environment and with same nutrients, watering etc.

Sorry for poor quality pics.

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
I'm going to hit the local grow shop tomorrow for advice and maybe pick up some cal-mag solution and possibly pH down.

Cheers,
Dave.

You got a nice bushy plant in 5 weeks. Better than I have ever done. I tend to over water and shrink the stem...

I think 2 fans minimum for a tent. And are you not just looking at heat stress? If your Nutes are Cannabis specific, like I use Dutch Masters, then it isn't Cal/Mag.. else it sure may be.

I have a clone set now at 5 weeks. Sour Diesel. They barfed early on from the lack of Cal/Mag in Clonex. So, clones get both now, 1/5 strength.

Also, you need to look for more information of deficiency in general, because some will effect the entire plant. So a few leaves points to a different thing, maybe.

Good luck. Grow roots and prospers. :)

Overwatering shrinks stems? What thickens them? I have these 4in babies that are growing but the stems remain thin...getting top heavy.

And are you not just looking at heat stress?

Pretty certain i'm not, The leaves on top are doing better than those in the middle or bottom.
Judging by what I've seen on here its more than likely a Ca or Mg problem so I'll grab some cal/mag and give her a sip of that.

Looks like it could be a calcium def, as at 4 weeks that is when it usually shows up. Also sounds like you need a new PH tester, as anything in the 7 range is too high, you need 6.3 - 6.5 You need accurate measurements, no guesswork with PH. Peace

True that, i'll grab a digital one if i have the cash today, if i can't would tester strips do for now?

I like using ph test strips better than using ph meters that I can't trust. Whole lot cheaper too. Checking and correcting your ph is the place to start. :)
